Shadowgate Theme Song?

OK, this is a question for the old-school (or older-school, at least) gamers among us. The song "Outside" by Tribe, one of the bonus tracks in Rock Band, bears an uncanny (I think) resemblance to the main theme song of Shadowgate, a game that I played on the NES back in the late 80s/early '90s. Has anyone else noticed this, and is it a coincidence or is there some kind of connection? (I know a few Harmonix employees were in Tribe, it's possible they worked on this video game 20 years or so ago...)

Either way, it's a great song, and if any members of Tribe are reading this board, well done. :P

I haven't played it, but I know the game of which you speak. So I hunted down a midi version of the song and listened to it. I didn't hear any outstanding resemblance, but it could have been the wrong song. If you have a link to a midi (like vgmusic.com) then maybe I could hear it.

On a side note, I noticed Foreplay/Long Time, when the opening "Foreplay" ends, it bears a resemblance to a small part of Final Fantasy VI's Third Tier of Dancing Mad (http://www.vgmusic.com/music/console/nintendo/snes/ff6final3.mid). Right at the end of the tier it leaves off in the same manner as Foreplay, with long organ notes and a pause before the next part. It's a minor resemblance, but every time I play Foreplay/Long Time I think of this song. And in my head the Final Tier (http://www.vgmusic.com/music/console/nintendo/snes/Dancing_Mad.mid) starts up.

Hmm. OK, maybe it isn't the main title song. I'll try to dig up the song I'm thinking of, but so far haven't managed to find it online. Thanks for weighing in tho.

I think I remember the jingle you're thinking of, and honestly I think it's coincidence. The sounds in common aren't exactly uncommon in the 80s. ;)

while i thought the same thing when i first heard Outside. it is diffrent.

I just played that song ("Outside") for the first time, and it REALLY reminds me of something. I thought of Shadowgate at first, but though it is somewhat similar, it's not the song that Outside reminded me of. I could swear that there's a video game song that is exactly the same, but I can't place my finger on it. Anyone have any ideas?
