Thanks for this. I really don't care for Spike and I honestly didn't even know when this was going to air. (Just shows how much I care.) This way I can just view everything here. Although, most of the winners are going to be obvious.

Starcraft 2 won't even be close to loosing that last one.
You should highlight the winners in green or something.

I'm more interested in the game announcements myself, especially since one of those announcements will be the next Star Wars game.

12-12-2009, 09:09 PM
no host? not even a disembodied voice?
Actually I think Claudia Black is doing most of those, so that's cool enough for me. She was the female lead in Uncharted 2.

jonoo24
12-12-2009, 09:09 PM
Jack's hi;hilarious, but Nolan should have had that one.

Sarge51
12-12-2009, 09:09 PM
Jack Black doesn't really have a good voice for video games, especially in BL. He was actually kind of annoying in that game repeating the same stuff over and over. :p

But then again, considering what he was up against...

xXZeroOverrideXx
12-12-2009, 09:09 PM
Oh look, an activision game.

Otherwise I don't really care

travmeatwad
12-12-2009, 09:12 PM
I turned it on late. I missed an opening with the Joker? What was it?

EDIT: Also, did anyone notice they mentioned something about a new Rock Band or something? I wonder what that's about.

Super-boos to that. Mark Hamill was an awesome Joker, while Jack Black was just...Jack Black. Bah.

Explosion2

Yes, U2 is amazing. I haven't finished it yet, but it is definitely going to make the admittedly short list of games I have completed.

I was leaning more towards Valve myself, with their consistent TF2 patching and L4D2.

travmeatwad

Yeah, I thought it would be one or the other.

Definitely not Rocksteady, though. Even though that game was fun.

can somebody keep this thread updated - saying what is going on... the damn stream does not work, - it is stuck in initializing media... and for Justin TV I'd need a premium membership, which I am not going to purchase just for one show....

Please-- somebody tell me what is going on there...

hawkofva
12-12-2009, 09:34 PM
I was surprised as well. I just assumed it was a toss up between Valve and IW.

The Force Unleashed 2 trailer was cool, but underwhelming for me. I was hoping they'd be introducing Battlefront 3 or a New IP.

I'll repost this here

I can understand why AC/DC would have their own game. They are so against any digital downloads, so it was the only way to get their songs in the game

I can understand Beatles. Apple is so intent on keeping the integrity of the Beatles in everything, so it was extremely necessary to make a game like that

I cannot for the life of me understand why all of these Green Day songs couldn't have been released as downloadable content in bunches, much like Grateful Dead or Foo Fighters

It's a terrible, terrible idea. Even if this is exportable, as much as that would help me cool off, there is absolutely no reason why Green Day NEEDED their own game like the other two, and that's what's pissing me off. This could have been downloadable content

Backing up the idea of AA2 haveing the city in it:

SPOILER ALERT FOR THOSE WHO HAVEN'T FINISHED AA!!!

The very last scene of AA shows Killer Croc breaking out of a box in the water. This tells me that Killer Croc isn't in his cell anymore and outside of the asylum. Killer Croc would probably swim into Gothom's sewers and end up in the city. One of the missions in the game (or the boss level) could have Batman trying to capture Killer Croc and taking him back to the asylum.

I never played Spidey 3, but they pioneered that approach with Spiderman 2 on the previous generation of consoles, and that game kicked ass. Trying to lasso a helicopter with web so you could go out to Liberty & Ellis Islands was an awesome bit of gameplay.

Happy for Naughty Dog. (if they even care about this stuff)

Uncharted 2 was the clear winner. MW2 was a disappointing pile of dung that was nothing more than improved multiplayer and a barely coherent campaign of impossibly dramatic moments. Uncharted 2 had the quality story, MP, and some beautiful graphics, and I've never even played it. Makes me want a PS3.

I can't wait for Halo: Reach, Green Day: Rock Band, Arkham Asylum 2, The Force Unleashed 2 and Crackdown 2.

Next year looks to be promising.

Added links to youtubes of all the new game trailers, but fair warning: some are awful quality. I got the best I could find of each.

You should GameTrailers link them.

Feel free to add your own of those. I made the links in the OP go to Youtube versions so anyone could access them. If you also happen to catch better quality Youtube versions of the shakycam vids, let me know so I can update the links.

Uncharted 2 won GOTY? Meh... It's competition wasn't that great. If Dragon Age had some time on the market it probably would've won.

Of course, MW2 wins best shooter.

Chinatown Wars won the best handheld game? ...Ugh.

How did X-Men: Wolverine not win the game based of a movie award? That game was actually really cool!

DJ Hero has the best soundtrack? ...Ugh. The only song I liked on that game was the Daft Punk mix track. The rest of the songs are just mashups that don't even sound good. However, if "Never Gonna Give Your Teen Spirit" was on it, it'd be instant win. ;)

Best original score? ...What is that even for? Just an obligatory award for a Halo game?

Megan Fox? -_____-

Halo Reach actually looks good. Sounds like they are bringing back the hardcore "rock" style of their music, too. I hope True Crime doesn't suck...

Having played it on the PSP, it's deserving. Mainly because Disgaea 2: Dark Hero Days, Half-Minute Hero, and Patapon 2 are all too freaking weird to stand a chance of winning such an award. :)

Or "Oops, The Real Slim Shady Did It Again"... :D

Pretty much. Even if their scores are horribly overrated. I'm sure Dragon Age beats Halo: Reach next year, though.

Don't worry, both probably will. I hold out a bit more hope for Halo: Reach not sucking, but only slightly.

I expected Infinity Ward to win that, for sure.

Considering that they pretty much told PC gamers to go **** off and die, I would have been shocked if they won.

How did Beatles: RB lose on soundtrack?

Because there isn't much diversity. It's all one band, therefor extremely subjective. If one person hates the beatles, they won't buy the game. Because all it is is the beatles.

Exclusives that are rated highly (not necessarily my favorites):
PS3:
Uncharted 1
Uncharted 2
LittleBigPlanet
Metal Gear Solid 4
Ratchet and Clank: Quest for Booty
Ratchet and Clank: a Crack in Time
Jak and Daxter

Xbox:
Halo 3
Halo ODST
Gears of War
Gears of War 2
GTA IV (I put it here because of the exclusive DLC)
Left 4 Dead
Left 4 Dead 2

That's off the top of my head... There's more, I know it.
This is just highly rated exclusives, not necessarily good ones.

the one thing that saddens me about the Xbox list is the lack of platformers. I enjoy platformers.

I once looked at a list for both consoles, I think it was actually on Wikipedia. There's a LOT more exclusives than you think. I don't even own a PS3 anymore and I could name more PS3 exclusives than I could Xbox exclusives.

I don't really like talking about exclusives because I can only come up with those that you listed off the top of my head. GoW and Halo are both overrated and they are both shooters. At least PS3 exclusives that come to mind are of variety.

yeah, that's what I was talking about when I said there was a lack of platformers on the Xbox list. While shooting games are fun, I also like to jump on some bad guys heads every once in a while.

I do like video games. :) I am just not impressed with the 360's exclusives, however I think games that are cross-platform have an advantage on the 360 most of the time. So it's kind of a balanced deal. Come to think of it I'd rather own a PS3 since I don't game too much online anymore. The PS3 has plenty of good single player games that I could get into. and then there's LBP and Fat Princess that I've been interested in, lately.

Just not much of a "shooters" kind of gamer anymore, and that's what the 360 mostly has, it seems.

yes, the Cross-platform games are generally more polished on the 360.

and I completely forgot about games like MotorStorm and Buzz!

even more variety for the list.

Well, this adds weight to the rumors of U2, Pearl Jam, the Who, Queen and the Doors RB games. If those come into fruition, and people still complain about there being better bands, then they deserve a light smack to the head.

Yet again the game of the year award goes to a game that previously lost it's own catagorey. I think they actually had consistency last year. Though I still remember the very first one where Madden won game of the year and lost sports game of the year.

It seems like Harmonix is working even closer with music labels now. This is just one way that it manifests itself... it's something on the shelves for Harmonix, it's publicity for the band and the record label, and increases distribution possibilities (after all, a label might want the game stocked with the band's CDs...).

Not to mention, it will probably help secure more and more content as time goes on... the fact that bands and labels seem to be seeking HMX out is only a good thing.
