Anthrax, Megadeth, Metallica and Slayer are all going on tour.

Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth, and Anthrax . . . the rumors are true!

You've been posting and chatting about it for months and we're here now to confirm it . . . Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth, and Anthrax will all share the same stage for the first time EVER! Look for the four of us at the Sonisphere shows in Warsaw, Poland and Prague, Czech Republic on June 16 and 19, 2010 with a few more of the festival dates still in the works, you can be sure these shows won't be the only ones.

In the words of Lars: "Who would have thought that more than 25 years after its inception, thrash metal's big 4 would not only still be around and more popular than ever, but will now play together for the first time...what a mind****! Bring it on!"

What more can we say??

Taken from a note Metallica posted on Facebook.

I can't see Metallica and Megadeth being around each other too long.

Yeah, this won't last, especially if Metallica is placed higher on the bill.

Don't all four of them hate each other?

Well, I haven't heard anything about Slayer and Anthrax, or Metallica and Slayer, or Megadeth and Anthrax, but still.

Maybe.....realy big maybe....Mustaine got over himself and Lars shut the **** up for once, that might be why this very improbible tour will be possibly taking place.

Yeah... I'm not going to Europe to see James' voice crack, Anthrax have a singer that isn't Belladonna, Dave get in a fight with someone, or Kerry just look ugly...

Well, this is interesting, although I really like one of these bands (Megadeth).

Taking bets on how long until Dave and Metallica get into a fight.

I see everyone seems to forget that Dave was invited when Metallica made the HoF. I doubt there's still as much animosity between the bands as the fans seem to think.

Nah, with the exception of Anthrax, they're all doing fine (commercially, not necessarily artistically, but that really depends on your point of view). I know Death Magnetic got #1, and I think Endgame and World Painted Blood got in the top 20.

Maybe if their careers were fizzling we'd get something different out of them ;)

I suppose it's my fault for just assuming they're failing without actually looking in to anything that 3 of them have done in the last 5 years. I keep up with Megadeth sparingly, but i feel the other 3 have gone over the hill and down into the valley.

They have 100% with their former fanbase, if that's what you mean. I think metallica have some sort of streak going on with number ones albums, which surprises the hell out of me.

I just had a mild cardiac arrest...

But, really this was a long time coming and all the bands are well out of their prime. Metallica and Megadeth at the same venue? It is pretty known that both bands don't like each other very much.

I'd love to go to simply see Metallica and Megadeth live. But I have a gut feeling that the prices are going to be ridiculously high.

Metallica's prices are always ridiculously high. I stand by my statement I made in a different thread that thrash is better at $5 basement shows than $70+ Metallica shows.

If I had a "things to do before I die" list, seeing a traditional basement thrash or punk show would be on it.

Go do it, they're all over the place.

If other scenes are anything like Philly, it might be a little hard to break into at first. Most DIY venues are pretty secretive about their locations (though they have myspaces and flyers to promote their shows) in order to prevent being shut down. You might need to do a little research and/or ask a band about the location of their shows in order to figure out where they are. Once you break into the scene, you'll know about more shows than you can possibly handle, though.

I think my personal favorite is when you can find a "legit" venue that condones moshing/stage dives, is cheap, let's you bring your own beer, and is smallish. Luckily Philly has one such venue, the First Unitarian Church basement, though it mostly plays indie-type stuff. Every now and then you get a band like Municipal Waste to come down and tear the ****ing place up, though.

I don't know about the scene there, but it would surprise me if there's not a DIY punk venue or two there. Worst comes to worst, you might have to make the trek up to Denver (and/or other towns in between).

I'd suggest contacting some Denver bands (Havok, Clusterfux, Dödsfälla, Security Threat, Speedwolf, etc.) and see what they know of going on in the general area (both Colorado Springs and Denver).

You've got a killer sludge/doom/stoner/post-metal scene there. Trouble, Pelican, the Atlas Moth, Blood of the Tyrant, Lord Mantis, Lair of the Minotaur, Minsk, Buried at Sea, etc.

best thing to do is live in a suburb (i do) in Indiana (lower taxes and whatnot) and commute into the city via train (South Shore Line), live in an apartment someplace near the border, you'd be about 30 minutes from the Loop

 That's too expensive for me. It wouldn't be expensive if I had a job but the town I live in sucks for jobs...

I've seen my friends band perform in a community building basement near me. It was pretty awesome and I loved it. All of it besides the pain in my left leg.

I live near Chicago also. Not as close as a21 but it's about 2.5 hours away.

Any love for the Central Florida scene? We have a pretty decent hardcore scene, as well as some traces of third-rate thrash revival, but is there anything down here that I'm missing out on?

Black Witchery!

Also Tampa death metal.

Cavity and Floor were both from the area before they split up, as well.

Mustaine would have to resist not talking s#!& to Metallica and Slayer. I don't think he's ever said crap about Anthrax.

Lars doesn't open his mouth about anything anymore and has even hinted that he wanted this tour in the past, so nothing to worry here.

Kerry King would have to not beat the ever living s#!& out of Mustaine and he'd have to shut his mouth with Metallica. (Although in Flight 666 you can see Kerry King with Lars, I'm guessing whatever he said was out of anger.)

Anthrax would just have to be stable enough to play for one night. (Probably the first night since they would break up right after that.)

Now that we have the big four, how about the New Wave of British Heavy Metal tour? Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Diamond Head, Saxon, Motorhead. Sweet...

But of course, yet Tampa technically isn't considered a part of Central Florida, so I didn't really consider the whole movement.

If I were the organizer's, I'd rotate the acts, so one night Metallica opens, the next Megadeth, etc. A novel idea, but with their egos I doubt it would happen.
