My brand new, just opened guitar is not being read by my 360. It is just flashing a green circle and isn't being selected as a player. I have plugged in the hub and straight into the machine. Am I doing anything wrong? Thanks

Not trying to come off like a smartass here, but did you plug in the USB hub's power supply? It isn't powered off of the xbox.
For your read error on the game itself. I get that semi frequently while playing. I find if i take the disk out, reposition it, and put it back in it will work just fine.
Hope this helps.

Stinkdog,
did you ever get this to work? I bought mine from Best Buy about 2 hours ago and the guitar came out of the box doing this. Looks like I'm having the same problem that you did.

Not sure if this will help, but I had to unplug and plugin the hub to the xbox 360 a few times now to get all the stuff to register. In these cases, it was all of them though.

Yeah, my mic and drums are working fine. I've also got a GH2 controller that works fine plugged into the hub and plugged straight into the xbox.
also, the power for the USB hub sticks out about 1/8th an inch. is that all the way in? I've pushed pretty hard but it doesn't seem to want to go any further.

Update: A friend came over and brought his rock band guitar with him. He plugs it in and it works fine. I really can't think of anything that it could be other than the guitar, but I don't want to go through the hassle of an RMA.
Any last things I should check before I call it quits?

Have you tried plugging the guitar directly into the Xbox without the hub to see if it works? If that works, have you tried to use a working instrument (Say, your mic) in the USB slot your guitar was in to see if it still works? Because it could just be that your hub (Which aren't the best-made hubs around) could have a faulty slot. If you have done both of those, and the guitar doesn't work while plugged directly in, and the mic *does* work in the USB slot (On the hub) that the guitar *wouldn't* work in...
Well, then it may be your guitar. :-/

The guitar does the flashing circle thing plugged into either usb ports on the xbox, and every port on the hub. The drums and mic work fine plugged into every spot on the hub and to both ports on the xbox

Sorry... sounds like an RMA is in your future.

i'm just going to say this outright: ROCKBAND GUITARS STRAIGHT OUT OF THE BOX HAVE A 50% CHANCE OF WORKING CORRECTLY.
my own guitar (right out of the box) didn't work correctly. but in my case, it was my overdrive that was hard to engage. i played Rockband on my friend's xbox and i KNOW that the overdrive was as simple as tilting the guitar--not jerking it furiously in an upward motion.
i sent that ***** back IMMEDIATELY via website and got a replacement. i suggest you do the same, as the "turn-around" time is very short.
