I just got Rockband, wow what a game!!, but I'm going to my cousins place for christmas dinner and was hoping to bring it along. Everything fits inside the box except the guitar. Is it possible to take the neck off (like how it was out of the box) without killing it. I applied a bit of force and it didn't seem to budge. I don't want to wreck it so if anybody has any tips or advice that'd be great. Thanks, and merry christmas!!

If you unscrew the screws on the headstock and take the back of it off, I believe you can do it. Otherwise, no.

Just be aware this will void your warranty. The headstock is not designed to be removed.

Yeah...it'll come off...IF you take the four screws out of the back of the headstock and then unscrew the metal plate inside and then use a second screwdriver to push the "catches" back as someone tugs on the head to separate it...

Yeah, it'll come off...if you want to work at it and no damage will be done.

Remember to take the tools with ya cause you'll need to do the same for the ride home(IF you put it back on).

Merry Christmas!

after you get it off dont shove it all the way back down when you but it back on then you can take it off anytime you want. thats what I did and it works great it just looks kinda funny

or just remove the metal catches and then you shouldn't need to worry about it, right? :)

plus you could void the warranty, but how would they know? everything that's removed can be replaced (i've done it) without any difference to its appearance

Usually if they're worried about voiding warranties, they'll put a sticker in there so they can tell if you've broken it. As far as I know, there's no warranty seal on the guitar, but I've never tried it so I could be wrong. Honestly it seems like a lot of work just to screw off the head...i just swing the guitar around my back when I pack it up. Simpler, and it gets the job done.

That sounds like the safest and best solution...I wouldn't fool with it really.

If EA wanted to be extra paranoid about it, they could look for wear on the screw heads.

I doubt they would notice/care, but remember you are still taking a risk.

It's a technicality but opening your guitar controller doesn't void your warranty but it does give EA/whomever cause to "deny warranty service." It's very very hard to actually void a warranty. Far more common is doing something which will cause the contract holder to deny repairs/service as per the agreement in the warranty.

Anyway if you disassemble it make sure to be tres gentle with the screws when reassembling it. I think I stripped one right near the silver strap knob screw in point so occasionally the knob comes out.
