If I pack my 360 in a bag, then put that bag in a suitcase full of clothes for padding, how likely would it be to survive a trip on a plane? I know they aren't exactly gentle with checked baggage...

Heh, i just phoned the airplane security this afternoon about taking mine on the plane. But i have a backpack that's made for carrying a 360 that i'm taking, but as a carry-on though. I don't trust the "tossers" at the airport.

Yeah, I'm thinking about carrying it on, though I already have my lappy to worry about that way. Getting guitar controllers home is another issue though I think those would be more likely to survive the checked baggage experience.

I may just say screw it and do without RB2 for a few weeks. :p

What type of guitar? My Xplorers have survived me going full Townshend on them.

Xplorer, and a Les Paul that's on its way out anyway.

The only thing I would worry about is the Xplorer's neck. Assuming you didn't mod, it the LP can be disassembled and made shorter so it won't be under as much (potential) stress. Really depends on what size and shape your luggage is.

If you are in fact Samuel L.Jackson, whoever is under you should watch out for falling 360s. Could be deadly.

Maybe you could UPS or Fed-Ex your guitars instead of trusting the airport. I probably would.

"aren't exactly gentle" is the understatement of the year. There's a reason they're called "tossers". :)

If you do end up putting the 360 in a checked bag, definitely take the HDD off and put that in your carry-on bag.

A shockingly high percentage of bags get opened and rifled through in the travel process. Bag handlers aren't exactly at the top of payscale, and they have a certain reputation for grabbing cash, electronics, and high-value pawn-shop styled items.

Keys and locking mechanisms are easily defeated in the industry also, so don't go expecting that to save you.

To even consider putting an Xbox through checked bagged is brazen and foolhardy IMHO. Save yourself from catastrophe and just carry it on. It's no different than business users carrying on their laptops.

I remember airports not wanting you to lock baggage's anymore because they may need to search them. Been awhile since I actually checked a bag though, so that might have changed again.

I've carried 2 Les Pauls in checked baggage with no problems, just make sure you detach the necks.

I have a decent sized bag where I carry on my laptop and PS3. The only problem is the guitars though, I would just put those in your luggage, easier to not break/replace if they are broken.

"That's it. I've had it with these motherf***ing 360s on this motherf***ing plane!" LMAO, had to be said.

But i'd suggest wrapping it in something and placing it in a heavy duty suit case or something like that.

Edit: Oh crap, my joke got used before i used it, oh well.

I think I'm just not going to take any of the stuff and do without an Xbox of my own for a few weeks. I should have enough other things to do that I'll survive without it. :p

If its only for a few weeks, its probably the best idea to leave it behind Plus itll seem all the more interesting when you return
