if you check a few threads down, there's a whole thread about ps2 rockband. If you are that itching to play it, you can buy the PS3 Bundle, return the disk and buy the ps2 disk. The PS3/PS2 hardware is exactly the same, so you're only exchanging the disks.

NICE! so if i go to Best buy and buy the PS3 bundle and sell the game and buy the PS2 game, i can play it?

I dont think so...UNLESS you buy a adapter to pluggin the ps3 controllers into your ps2 since they have different ports.

This is incorrect. The PS2 bundle is the same exact hardware as PS3 bundle. Both bundles use USB port which is on a PS2, you'll just need to get a USB hub.
But yes, Pooptet, you can just exchange the game for PS2 version and you are set.

Just so you know, Pooptet, this is a verified method. I bought my PS3 rockband bundle from Best Buy yesterday, opened it up, took the game out, walked two hops over to walmart, asked to exchange the game for PS2. No questions asked. I got home and was playing no problem. Other than the issue of PS2 only having 2 usb ports, as I stated before, just get a USB hub while you are there gettin RB, a USB hub is ~10 bucks.

Is the usb hub required to use any of the ps3 peripherals? Or does the PS3 drum controller plug directly into the usb port on the ps2. Is the hub only to be able to connect all 3? Cause frankly, I just want to be able to play the drums.

I ended up at a Super Walmart in Florence, KY yesterday morning (Dec 24th) and they had a stack of the PS2 bundle on the floor of the electronics dept. The one thing I did notice is that they were $10 cheaper than the PS3 & XBOX versions.

The slim PS2 has the two usb ports, so would the PS3 guitar, and drums work with that. I accidentally ended up with the PS3 version for Christmas, and I know the PS2 version is hard to find so I'm considering doing the switch.

Exactly my question.

Anyone?

Exactly, cause if the two usb ports on the slim ps2 work, I'll be at my local Walmart tomorrow morning making the switch.

I dont have the slim PS2, i have the old fat one.. but i'm using the usb ports on it right now with my PS3 hardware :) Drums only right now, i havent tested out my hub, i'll do it eventually.
So I assume if mine works, slim would have no issues either.
