View Full Version : Why do people pick the same 3 songs everytime??

Almost every single time I venture onto XBox Live for some online band quickplay, whomever ends up the leader always picks the same songs.. It's either that Welcome home song by Coheed, the Timmy South Park song, or Reptilia by The Strokes.

I don't mind playing them, but sheesh, it's like people only wanna play those. It's kinda frustrating because there's lots of songs to choose from on the playlist(and whomever is the leader will skim the list up & down for like 10 minutes, another thing I can't stand...) but they always seem to gravitate back to those same 3.

Heck if you can't decide, pick random song every now and again. Mix it up, it's a lot more fun that way. Ok rant over.

That's never happened to me.... I always get random people and none of them have EVER picked those songs. Are you sure you arent' getting the same leader?

This is where XBL's voice chat comes in handy :)

Plug in your headset to whatever instrument you're playing and ask the leader not to pick those songs if you'd rather play something else.

Even if they're not wearing their headset, they'll still hear your voice through their TV (or sound system) speakers.

But do everyone a favor and do NOT try to sing along during the song (unless you're the singer, duh, and in that case, don't hold the controller trigger that allows voice chat). Voice chat is delayed by like .5-1 second during songplay, and it really throws everybody off :)

Really? The only songs people seem to pick when I play online are Dani California, Won't Get Fooled Again, and Wanted Dead Or Alive.

Certain songs are just destined to be more popular. Maybe they have more radio play, or have badge-of-l33t difficulty, or are highly wacky. It's unavoidable... unless you use voice chat and say "Please god, not Dani California AGAIN."

That goes a long way to solving the problem. I started a thread about the Christmas Onslaught and its lessons hold true; communication is key to having a fun rock band experience. New holiday rockers out there, plug in, listen in, and take and give requests. Try to avoid the Usual Bunch of Songs, or at least mix them in with some randoms and rarities.

Yeah, this is why the lack of voice chat support on the PS3 is really a problem.

My preference is to have a leader that just jumps to the top and picks Random Song every time. At least that way, when I have to play Welcome Home for the fourth time that day, it's not because I'm the victim of someone else's whim.

Yeah I had recently discovered that i had the ability to play Welcome Home on expert guitar and i must say...it is a blast. Definitely the best song for guitar, imo. So that's why you may be seeing it alot. As for Enter Sandman, it's easy to learn on expert drums and also a blast. I just have no idea why it's so high on the difficulty chart. One of the easiest songs in the game, Imo.

Yea, I can't stand Dani California anymore >.> It's killing me. Good to see I'm not in the same boat though.

For me, it's always Dani California, Enter Sandman, or Welcome Home. Starting to get sick of those songs!

...I need to vent real quick. I figured things were going to be like this since a lot of people are just getting the game today since it's Christmas and all...but this is ****ing ridiculous.

I decide to do something I rarely do, since a lot of ppl are probably on guitar and drums....I decide to sing. Hooray. Anyway, so far every game I joined has been nothing but stupid.

People leaving in the middle of songs, picking the same ****ing songs over, and over and OVER.. I CAN ONLY TAKE SO MUCH ****ING SAY IT AINT SO, SO MUCH DANI CALIFORNIA, SOOOO MUCH OF THAT DAMN KILLERS SONG...DAMNIT!!!!!

I swear it seems like I am playing with the same ppl over and over again, the damn list never changes.

And a newfound dislike...ppl who pick difficulties they CAN NOT PLAY.....Just got done with a guy who picked the hardest songs over and over, just to fail them over and over. WTF MAN, if you can not play the **** on MEDIUM, go down to EASY, ITS OK....

INSANITY.....

I feel like getting in my car and finding their houses, knock on the door...greet them with a polite hello and Merry Christmas, and promptly beat the **** out of them.

*takes a deep breath*

I am on ps3 BTW so there is no way to let them know what I think....sigh.

Ok.....my rant is over....any one else having the same difficulty that I am today?

OMG man....I just got through with a post on some of this very thing.....

A good example of the pain I feel....I LOVE metallica, and I am beginning to hate Enter Sandman....

Also...if you are a guy, and you happen to pick a girl character.....be prepared to sing female songs....or ones with high pitch.....

Though I guess that makes sense.....

360 ftw! Haha I feel you man. I played with a drummer who could barely crawl through easy but for the first 4 songs we did he would choose hard, then when one of our bandmates told him to "try and suck less", the drummer responded with "IM STILL GETTING USED TO IT". When he said that, our bandmates said, in harmony, "Get used to it on easy".

But it is definitely irritating. I also played with a nice guitarist who did fairly well for a beginner on hard. She was talkative, friendly and took requests. So I thought, 'hey maybe this Christmas onslaught isn't so bad'. I was wrong. Because a few songs later her younger brother got on, started yelling in the mic and barely crawling through songs on easy and subsequently declaring his '1337ness'.

One last thing bad about the Christmas onslaught: noobs and/or noob questions.

"ZOMG DID U KNO U CAN BUY SONGZ!>!?!"
"NO WAI HOW"
"U GO TO DA MARKITPLACE"
"WUT IS THAT"

Lol, but you may need to take a chill pill and follow the rabbit into the hole and see how deep it goes?
It's annoying but it doesn't make me want to beat up little kids, maybe just take the game away but I wouldn't want to physically hurt them.

I have finally calmed down a little....I am a patient guy, I guess I just wasn't quite ready for that level of stupidity....
