PS3 Rock Band / PS2 GH... does it work?

I recently got my PS3, so Rock Band is in my near future. However, I was wondering... does the PS3 Rock Band Guitar work with GH1, GH2, GH2:80s, and GH3 for PS2? I bought an adapter for my PS2 guitar controller but it doesn't work very well, so I'd like to know how many guitars I am going to end up buying for my PS3 (haha.) If anyone has used the Rock Band guitar to play PS2 guitar hero games, please let me know! Much appreciated.

I was just coming here wondering the same thing. I know that GH3 wont work with the RB guitar - activision locks out anything but their own (and evidently is locking out their guitar from working with the ps3 version of RB). But since GH1-2/80s is made by harmonix, i was wondering if those worked with the RB guitar. Im totally on the fence about buying rock band and this could nudge me over the fence. I never played GH1/2/80s so being able to play all of those games would be pretty rad for me.

I've been wanting the same thing. Harmonix did the first and second Guitar Hero games so I don't see why their own guitar wouldnt work with their own games. The PS3 has backwards compatibility to play Guitar Hero so it's only a matter of getting the patch out. I mean,it would bring some sales back to those older games you know?
