Vagrant Story out on PSN

I've heard only good things about this game. I've read and heard that this game and FF 7 are one of the best games ever on the PSone.

I got FF7, and im a little disappointed, the story is very slow, there's no challenge at all, i have never died yet. While i dont need it to be brutal hard, i'd like at least to die sometimes. The battle system is also pretty boring, not enough variables i say. I think there's just too much to do, the games just huge. I dont really care about the graphics though, so dont peg me as one of those kids who think graphics come first. If anyone cares, i just got the seaplane thing. Is the game worth finishing? It'll probably take me 30 more hours to finish it...does it get better?

Vagrant Story now. Is it a lot like FF7? Is the game a 40 hour epic? Does the battle system still seem fresh?

Would you say that its top 5 PSone game? And which game do you like more?

I didn't like Vagrant Story that much because there was too much micromanaging of equipment for me. Also, my character seemed remarkably weak, and I was trying to fight everything I could.

Vagrant Story is a really fun game. I remember playing it when I was in Middle School. It definitely should be looked at. Damn, now I need a PS3 to buy this game.

Agreed. At least it's giving me time to beat FFVIII again.

One thing I'm realizing now is, once I figured out how to game the junction system in VIII, how bloody easy that game is...

It was funny to me that FFVIII was the easiest game to get your characters to 99, yet the one game that you really didn't want to. I'm not a fan of monsters that scale to your level.

In all reality, they didn't scale to your level, they scaled beyond your level... I'm pretty sure the level scaling of monsters, from what I read, was slightly faster than for playable characters.

That being said, I've never gotten around to playing Vagrant Story... although I think right now this release is EU-only, so I won't be able to play it on my PSP without a lot of hassle...

That's even sillier. If I want to grind my way to uber level, then let me wipe the floor with the regular mobs, and even the main story bosses. Put in some crazy insane side quest bosses or dungeons for people that max out their level and still want a challenge.

Woooo can't wait for this. I never did pick up or beat Vagrant Story but it was fun the couple times I rented it.

They did. Omega Weapon was insanely hard.

I must be the only one here who preferred Vagrant Story over all the other PS1 Square games. Great story and atmosphere, and once you got the hang of the (granted, rather difficult) combat/crafting system it was extremely fun to play.

Vagrant Story is a cool game, got a copy myself, but it got buried along with all my other games I haven't finished (yet).
