What is your favorite opening track on an album?
For me, its a toss-up between War Pigs off of Paranoid and Frank Sinatra from Fashion Nugget.

I consider it the opener, since The Ring Return is more of an intro than a song, if that makes sense.
Also, +1000000 for Hemispheres. My favourite Rush song.

That's how it was in the US release, but the remaster follows the original UK vinyl's order, where "Rapid Fire" came first.
Time to crack out a briefing of my list:
Pretty much any Beatles opener. Somehow they're always epic, so trying to name them all would drive me crazy.
Iron Maiden's another band with great album openers. "Aces High" from Powerslave, (Caught)Somewhere in Time, and Seventh Son's "Moonchild" are the first to come to mind.
Oh, and Black Sabbath's "Black Sabbath" from their album Black Sabbath is prett cool, too. :p

Cynic- "Veil of Maya"(Focus)

You are correct. I have the original vinyl of British Steel and it was easy for me to play "Breaking The Law" on Rock Nights (especially after a few beverages) because it was Track 1, Side 1.

If I'm not mistaken...isn't the opening track of Bleach "Blew"?
I feel like such an idiot. I was thinking Blew but typed About a Girl on accident. My god, I hate myself.

Oh I forgot about that one! For some reason I haven't gotten back into the Appeal to Reason album in a long time but Collapse (Post-Amerika) was my favorite song off that album!
I'll add that actually
Edit: And now that I think about it, State of the Union started off the Siren Song of the Counter Culture album! And that was an epic song as well! :D
