Red drum stopped working

All of a sudden, without any reason, the red drum simply stopped working. Obviously I can't play drums without it. Any suggestions on how to fix it?

Either the sensor has packed it in or the connection to the sensor has come undone. You can pop the pad off to see if it's still wired together or not. If it's not, just plug it back together and rock on.

Thanks for your answer. I want to remove the pad but I can't figure out how to - other than just pulling it out, which i'm sort of afraid to do. Is it the only way to open it?

That's right, there are rubber grommets on the bottom of the pad, that 'plug' into the base.
You should be able to find them by looking/feeling the bottom/base of the pad. Get your fingers in between the pad and base on either side of the grommet and pull, you'll have to tug hard but shouldn't have to apply Hulk like force.
