xbox 360/head set question

when your talking on xbox live through the head set does the sound come from the tv or the head set? if it comes through the tv how can i change this?

There should be something in preferences to change that.

By default, Xbox Live Chat audio comes out of the speaker in the Headset. Unless you changed your settings, having the audio coming out of the TV indicates that your headset is not being detected by the console. ;)

Per above, it usually comes from the TV unless you have a microphone plugged in, then it comes in through the headset instead. I don't remember exactly what you do but you go all the way to the right hand side of the guide menu where it has profile options and go to "preferences" and then there's a tab for "voice" settings. Have a look at those, because you can set it to still come through the TV even when on a mic, maybe that got turned on somehow.
