rockband 2 downloaded songs

so i have a bunch of downloaded songs for rockband 2 on my xbox360. however i am not connected to xbox live at all (including silver) and it says that I cannot play the songs....is this really true or is there some way of playing these songs without the internet

Did the message look like:

The song data you were accessing has become unavailable, and the game cannot proceed without it. Your game session has restarted.

Because you should be able to play DLC offline.
