Hello all, I was wondering does anyone know of any good CD COPY burning software? I have been using the one that came with my pc but I have noticed that the copies do not sound "exactly" like the master cd. The vocals are clear but it sounds as if the atmosphere of the copy is in monoish stereo.. its really hard to explain but I do notice it.

Hope someone out there has an ear for this and can help me out, Thanks.

i've never heard of cd burning software lowering the quality of sound unless you have it set to do so in the preferences... you might want to look into that first.

i used nero until windows vista came along and ruined everyone's lives. now i use alcohol 120%.

has nothing to do with the menus because its an exact copy. Its as if the loudness of the guitars or background noise doesnt get transfered to the copy. As I said, you really have to have an ear for it to notice the difference. I do and it bugs me.

Where can I try alcohol?

no clue if they have a demo version... i came home from work one day after griping about nero not working on vista and my roommate had installed it.
google it up and good luck.

honestly, i've never had trouble with a burning program automatically reducing quality though, and i am studio dude/near-audiophile so i've got the equipment and ears to notice.

What program are you using that causes this issue? I can imagine using the stuff built into Windows doing that, as it's likely re-encoding them.

It could also be that you're copying a disk with CDS protection, as they contain a lower quality version of the songs when using the built in ripping.

Im using this Cyberlink burning software, it has happened to a coiuple of cds which I believe do not have that CDS protection.

I don't burn because it's illegal.

But IF I did, I would be using Alcohol 120%. It's a good program. Or it would be IF I used it.

My suggestion would be to up the bitrate to studio quality.

Yeah sure... thats why you can buy the software in stores that are so "illegal" like Best Buy.

I think he meant downloading and burning, THAT is illegal. Burning is mainly meant for backing up CD's or whatever.

Nero has always been good to me.

That's got nothing to do with anything really. The software itself is not illegal. Just like buying a gun is not illegal. It's how you choose to use it that might be illegal.

This is going off topic now... I am making backups for myself end of story! All I want to know which software will give me an exact copy of sound quality ( if that is honestly possible).

I just installed Ashampoo and this software gives me the loudness that the Cyberlink doesnt give but the sound quality is a little inferior to the master cd....

I am seriously starting to believe that whole "exact copy" thing is total BS. I read some horror stories about the newer Neros so I am trying to stay away from them... I am not someone who really likes to just install anything on my computer and this is seriously pissing me off.
