Anyone play PS3 online?

I personally only play with my friends online, but I might start trying to play with random people I guess.

i play online every once in a while. I just don't like how theres no voice chat for rock band on the PS3.

Yeah, it is fun to play online co-op. The only thing I hate is when people just choose random songs. And no that I think about, how does it decide the leader? Also, how does it decide who play guitar and who plays bass?

As far as anyone can tell, the leader is decided randomly. If you have more than one person in your group, there's a better chance that your leader will be the group leader.

For you guys having trouble finding anyone, if you're playing the drums, that's the way it's going to be: since drumming is the new aspect of the game, there are a lot of people wanting to play drums, and with each drummer attracting two guitarists, you can run out of people to team up with very quickly.

Generally speaking, vocalists are very rare. If you find one, he or she will usually be paired up with another player--frequently a drummer.

EDIT: As far as choosing guitar/bass, you can either voluntarily pick the one you want to play, or you can both pick the same thing and the game will randomly assign one of you to guitar and one to bass. In my experience, it's much better to play with someone who's willing to swap instruments every other song.

DesiredFX is right, I suspect. The game seems to slot you in wherever someone is looking for a role to fill. Since there are so many drummers out there right now, that tends to make it more difficult to find a group, since many people will be on drums and guitar and are usually looking for a bassist and vocalist to fill out their band.

As a vocalist, it's a LOT easier to find a group. When I go looking, I usually don't have to wait more than 5-10 seconds on a good night to find someone that's looking for a singer, but then it's not a very popular niche in the world of Rock Band.

That is what I thought regarding the leader part. Though, I don't know if that is true of the guitar/bass thing because what I have found is that if I am guitar the first time, then the rest of the time I will be guitar even if the other person has tryed to select guitar. Maybe I am wrong though.

And if you keep sticking with guitar and forcing the other person to play bass, you'll find yourself kicked from a lot of bands or dealing with bass players who quit on you.

It's easiest just to play fair and swap back and forth.

He or she is not being forced into bass, it just seems to put them there after I have selected guitar, but yet I am not confirmed to have guitar when I select it. The same thing happens to me when the other person is first to the guitar.

You can actually both select "Guitar" and press the green button. It will then randomize and assign one of you to guitar and the other to bass.

If I see someone pick guitar, I will pick bass, so there's no randomizing involved.

Next time, though, I expect them to pick bass when I pick guitar. If they don't I just keep picking guitar until I get a song, then pick bass on the next song, hoping they'll get the hint.

If they don't, they get booted, or I leave.

Oh, and this problem is largely caused by the PS3 not supporting voice chat within the game. You have to think of other ways to try to communicate enough to cooperate.

I trying to figure out how to play locally 1st, once I get a lest pretty good I'll play online. Got RB/PS3 for my daughter yesterday we played about 5 hours. Very nice but I'm no good.
