new to this help with mic

Do I need anything special to get mic to work. I have cordless controllers for xbox 360, just turn one on and plug mic into little power supply usb box???? Should I hear the singer through the tv????:

If you followed the procedures you listed, it should work just fine. And yes, you should be able to hear yourself on the TV.
