Drum concerns

Okay, my red, yellow and my green pad(somewhat) have sort of a glossed over, tough feel to them. Other drums I've seen feel soft and somewhat sticky to the touch. For example, if you pressed down and tried to run your hand across it your hand would stick. Well mine are hard and glossy. Everything seems to be working fairly well, but I don't want a kit that doesn't have a long life time.
