They've only announced the first leg so far, none of which is anywhere near me... Hopefully the second leg will come somewhere near me. I'd love to see them live - the videos I've seen of them playing Rock In Rio are amazing.
Anyone else planning on seeing this tour? Anyone seen them live before?

Kind of disapointing to see Maiden stick with these Big Arena tours. The closest date for me is a good 2 days of driving. ***.
But, it's nice to see them covering some other areas.

The closest place to me it the Izod in Jersey, about an 8hr drive.
I'm a HUGE Maiden fan ..... Seen them 5 times back in my teens, right at my local civic center (8,000 seats). They came every year, I even had the Piece of Mind album cover painted 6ft x 6ft on my bedroom wall. Eddie in the Padded cell. I was going to send a pic into their fanclub and see if they would stop by when they came to town. HAHAHA silly me.
That never happened thou ..... see Black Sabbath was schuled to play on Good Friday 1 year and the church goers PROTESTED , Sabbath cancelled and the City never hosted concerts again. That was around 1985. (god I'm getting old)

Yup yup! Going to the show at the ACC in Toronto. I've seen them every tour since The World Slavery Tour back in '84 so this'll be #13 for me. Really looking forward to this one, set list should be killer!! Up the Irons boyos!

I saw them on their most recent tour and it was the most disappointing Maiden set I have ever seen. They played their new album from start to finish. No classics at all. I've seen them a few times and this most recent show was awful...I want the classics! Hopefully this go around they will play some of their older stuff because songs like The Trooper, Fear Of The Dark, Hallowed Be Thy Name, Two Minutes To Midnight, etc. are amazing songs live!

They are re-creating the World Slavery tour and will be bringing that stupendous set out of moth-balls. DOn't know if they will be strictly playing that setlist or not. I'll find out next month at The Forum in LA. It'll be go around 10 or so for me (missed the Blayze years because I just couldn't bring myself to do it).

The best part is that they are claiming the tour is coinciding with the release of Live After Death on DVD. Now, they've only promised that a few times before - 3 or 4 years ago it was supposed to be part 2 to Iron Maiden - The Early Years and come out a few months later. But I think I believe them this time. Now Rock Band needs to jump in and get all the songs from the set as DLC and release it alongside the DVD and tour kickoff.

ONly if they can get original masters or a decent cover band. WHoever did RTTH & NOTB were awful.... That especially stung since when the DLC for NOTB was announced, it looked like it was the original tracks.

We're likely never going to get those masters. It comes down to do you want to play the songs or not? I do. Plus I sing, so I could care less what the cover singer sounds like.

IT's the guitars that drive me crazy. Aside from the tone, the levels are awful. But yeah, I'm glad to at least play them. Hopefully they have some of those Martin Birch masters for PoM & Powerslave....

IRON MAIDEN kicked off their Somewhere Back In Time - World Tour '08 with a headlining performance Friday night (February 1) in front of nearly 100,000 fans at the Bandra-Kurla Complex in Mumbai, India. The group's setlist was as follows:
01. Intro - Churchill's Speech
02. Aces High
03. 2 Minutes to Midnight
04. Revelations
05. The Trooper
06. Wasted Years
07. The Number of the Beast
08. Run to the Hills
09. Rime of the Ancient Mariner
10. Powerslave
11. Heaven Can Wait
12. Can I Play With Madness?
13. Fear of the Dark
14. Iron Maiden
-----------------------------
15. Moonchild
16. The Clairvoyant
17. Hallowed Be Thy Name
IRON MAIDEN's Somewhere Back In Time - World Tour '08 trek revisits the band's incredible history by focusing almost entirely on the '80s in both choice of songs played and the stage set, which is based around the legendary Egyptian production of the 1984-85 Powerslave tour. This is arguably be the most elaborate and spectacular show the band have ever presented, and includes some key elements of their Somewhere In Time tour of 1986/7, such as the Cyborg Eddie.

Seems like a short set. Good songs though, except maybe FotD which seems out of place.
Wish they would announce the NA dates.

Short? Its the standard length of a Maiden set. Plus, considering how long many of the songs are, it probably totals to a longer length than most bands' sets.
Fear of the Dark is possibly only on there for India (and maybe Australia), as its only there sceond time there (and there first time in over 10 years for the Aussies). This kind of thing has happened before (Charlotte the Harlot was only played for two shows on the Early Days tour and then dropped for another song, I think it was Running Free.)

Yeah well I mean it seems short compared to how long I would want it to be, don't really care what other bands do. Looks like about 90 minutes to 2 hours. I would prefer three hours :)

Just found this trolling for some footage on YouTube, a few minutes of the show in India Wasted Years. Pretty good quality, stage set looks good!

If it wasn't for taxes, I wouldn't have the money for tickets once they come through. I mean I wouldm have the money, but I would have likley spent the money on something else earlier in the year and then been screwed now.:o Hopefully, the N. America Dates will be announced soon, and since the first leg stops in Ontario Canada, I'm hoping that one of the first dates on the second leg will be for the Detroit area. Me wants front row seats badly!!

I'll be going to the ACC here in Toronto in March. Will be my 21st time seeing them :)
Also going to Croatia in August to see them, then 2 days later in Budapest!
Can't wait! The Powerslave album is my favourite album of all time by them. Have been waiting to hear them do Rime OF the Ancient Mariner live for years, not just on VHS or DVD.

Seeing them in March in New Jersey. I really cannot wait another day.
Really wish they slapped Transylvania in there. Great set though, could have only hoped for earlier stuff from Killers and the EP but that'd be too much to ask for.

The setlist is actually a work-in-progress. Maiden has been known to expand their set as a they get further into a tour (it should be noted though that they've never taken this approach on a tour as massive as this one). Some Di'Anno songs would have been nice, but honestly, I don't really care. Bruce has finally learned how to sing for a live performance. The CD release from this tour is going to be at least five times better than Live After Death.

Live After Death was also recorded at the very end of like the longest tour ever and his voice was shot. But yeah I think his technique has improved also, which will hopefully keep that from happening this time.

You should have went to the Early Days Part 1 tour a few years back. They only played stuff off of Iron Maiden to Piece Of Mind. They did Transylvania then :)
