View Full Version : iTunes Pissing Me Off

Okay, I have a bunch of tracks off of a particular CD. They're all properly labeled, right artist, album, year, track number, disc number, genre, album artist, etc.
Instead of listing them all as one album (which they're all from), iTunes is listing them as 7 SEPARATE DISCS. WTF?!! How do I get the damn program to stop being so moronic?
I chose moronic because the damn board censors ******ed.

Itunes is the sole reason why i went with a Zune.
Its so damn stupid and user unfriendly.

My only issue with itunes is that they don't have some of the classic bands like AC/DC, old Def Lepard and Black Sabbath, and so on.

Double check all the capitalization, punctuation etc.. I had a bunch of hyphens screwing mine up.
My current problem is that the digital copy of Star Trek that I got with the Blu Ray doesn't work. The chapters show up but nothing plays.

yea, but I would like some of the 70's sabbath that includes Ozzy, and from there original recordings.

It only does this with one album: The Poison by Bullet For My Valentine.
I just cut and pasted the band name and album names, so I KNOW they're all identical. The year is all the same, they're all labeled as "disc 1 of 1" and all the track numbers are right, but I have 8 artwork slots (all identical, mind you) for 9 songs.
The only two songs under the same artwork are Hit the Floor and All These Things I Hate.
I don't know what to do and it's REALLY starting to piss me off.

The only problem I have with Itunes is that my album artwork gets mixed up a lot for no reason whatsoever and it pisses me off...

This.
My only complaint is that all Led Zeppelin albums get the box set artwork instead of the original album.

Try selecting the lot of them, and picking Get Info. Then check everything except the track number, and retype the info you want. Make sure everything is ticked, even the blank ones.

yeah, i got lost with not finding AC/DC
the only problem i ever have is that they ask you which search result of the cd you want. what's the point of that?!
i once picked something off the Guns n' Roses Greatest Hits CD, and it gave me the full listing in Japanese!! i had to fix all of them manually!

Besides the tips mentioned above, I find what wreaks the most havoc with my sorting in iTunes is the "Album Artist" category. Make sure to just repeat the artist name there again, and it should lump everything together correctly (assuming the rest of the tags are filled in properly).
Hope that solves your problem.

If they come up in a group you can click the first, hold shift, and click the last to grab the lot of them.
And make sure you put in the Album Artist. Also worth ticking Compilations for those appropriate.

I use it occasionally. Relatives with precious little else to run on generally give me iTunes cards for Xmas/birthdays.

Okay, I finally fixed it. Ended up having to put in the wrong album artist and then fix it to the correct one, and it lumped them together finally.

When I get gift cards for Christmas/birthday, I definitely use the store. Especially when some things I can't find on soulseek or take forever. I couldn't find any of Blue Judy's material on soulseek, so itunes was my next option.

I don't like the latest version of iTunes at all. That's why I still have an older version and I've never had a problem like the OP has/had.

They're a good bs gift for people who are too simple to buy Microsoft points and don't want to just give cash. I got $60 worth for xmas and will most likely stockpile them for apps or for buying smaller band's songs that I feel bad about getting other ways.
I personally don't have any problem with itunes.

For Itunes Gift cards I ONLY go with apps or tv shows. Movies are way overpriced, songs are also way overpriced, and audiobooks/whatever else are stupid. With my x-mas itunes gift cards I bought the rock band, peggle and N.O.V.A. apps and a whole lot of Simpsons and South Park episodes
/off topic but w/e glad it sorted out for you :)

Same. I bought a few albums I haven't been able to find by any other means through iTunes with my gift cars from Xmas. I've found some reasonably obscure stuff I've never seen anywhere else on there.

Yeah, I've never had an issue with iTunes until they released the current version. I find the new layout less useful and the program itself has way more bugs that impact actual usage.

... Why? Unless it's for rare EPs, Digital-only tracks, i almost never use the iTunes store... Amazon MP3 is better in almost every feasable way.

That is, if you can.
The closest good record store I know about is across the bridge to the city. There's a Target by my house, but when the only Iron Maiden you can find there is Flight:666, it's dumb to get your music from there. There's also a Best Buy, but not really a perfect collection either, and prices are not very reasonable (some albums go for 20).
Online music buying just feels like to me that it is making record stores obsolete.

A friend of mine uses my iTunes for his iPod and he went out and bought a $50 card to buy some music and he was so excited untill he listened to some of the stuff and found out he DL'd keroke versions of some of the songs. I laughed at him for like 4 hours today.

The only problem I have like this is that a few CAKE albums I have on iTunes have the first track seperate from the rest of the album, but on my iPod the tracks are all in one album, I still can't fix it.

Same here. If not for the iTunes store, I'd never have any Velvet Underground, Tegan and Sara, and a few other albums you'd be hard-pressed to find at Walmart. Amazon's prices are occasionally lower, but their selection is kinda meh once you've picked it over.
As for glitches, I've had ONE problem with finding album art (Meteora got a "Violin Tribute to Linkin Park" cover), and that's it.

Amazon MP3 isn't actually much better than iTunes. It's only 10p cheaper, and I find the quality of the songs slightly worse using Amazon MP3. Are there any other cheaper, legal alternatives?
