View Full Version : I need some PS3 Leader Board help!

Well, I have 2 problems/questions.
First off, I am running into the problem where my PS3 connects with Rock Central, but disconnects me as soon as I try to look up a song or band. After it disconnects, I cannot get back on. The message of "Attempting to Connect to Rock Central", sits on the screen forever. I have to quit the game, and come back in if I want to connect...and then I just get the same disconnect problem anyway. I read in some older threads, that a patch took care of this problem. My machine is patched and up to date, but still no joy.
Secondly, I finished the game last night on solo hard vocals.
Why do I not see my scores on the Leader Board?
Do solo careers show up on the Leader Board, or only quick play?
Thanks for any help!

Have you ever connected to Rock Central?
Does your PS3 sign in to your account and can you access the Playstation store? If so, you're router is probably good to go and it's the game's problem... Unless you have to open up a port for the game, but I never did. A friend of mine had problems trying to get his Linksys wireless router to connect for online play, but I've never had a single problem with my Netgear router.
Are you connecting wirelessly? If so, have you tried connecting via cable instead? I was hooked up wireless for a long time, re-wired to a cable, and it's a lot faster.
You're probably not seeing your score because you can't connect to Rock Central, where it needs to update your score. If you look under leaderboards and solo tour, you will be able to see your ranking, even on vocals.

Hi.
Yes, I have connected to Rock Central, but I get booted when I try to access the Leader Boards. I can get to the point that it tries to list the leaders, then it disconnects.
Yes, the PS3 signs in. I have downloaded the latest system update patch, and I have purchased some Rock Band DLC, as well as a couple of old PS2 games. I can use the browser also.
I am using a Linksys wireless router, but so far, it seems OK. Unfortunately, I do not have access to the network drop, where the router is plugged in (about 300 feet away.)
Perhaps it is a login problems..? I try to connect to Rock Central from the main "Community" screen, meaning I have not loaded the band I created when I try to connect.
I go to Community --> Leader Boards. This works for a moment, until I try to actually list the leaders, then it disconnects. If I access my band first, then try to connect to Rock Central, it just sits at the "Accessing Rock Central" screen forever. Neither way gets a full connection to Rock Central, but it does get further when I do not load the band first.
I hope that makes sense.

I get disconnected or the 'failure to connect' all the time. I usually won't wait at the screen for long. I just go through and it'll say something about being unable to update until I connect. Usually when I change characters or go to view the leaderboard it'll connect then.

We occasionally get the disconnected message.
What worked for us (courtesy of Nintendo's Tech support as we were having the same issue with that system) was to change our wireless router's channel to 11. All Linksys routers have a default setting of channel 8. Thus, if your neighbors have the same router it could be causing interference.
I'd also check your internet signal strength. If it's running too slow you will have connection problems.

Thanks for the advice.
I did make a bit of progress. I was able to connect to the Leader Boards once. I saw a list of scores/names. When I tried to change songs, I was disconnected...same as usual.
I was also able to join an online Quickplay band. Unfortunately, when the song started, I was booted. This also happened another time, as the players were being "introduced" on stage. To whomever I was briefly playing with, I apologize for bailing on you! :)
My thinking here is that I just don't have a strong enough wireless connection, even though the PS3 is showing that I am running between
70% - 80% on the signal. Perhaps the PS3 needs a near 100% signal..?
I have even tried a static IP address with port forwarding, and putting the PS3 in the DMZ of my router. No luck. Running the game with a wired connection is not an option as the router is waaay far away, but I guess I can hook it up for a moment though to test.

Interestingly enough, I can play Mortal Kombat II online against other people, with NO interruption. Obviously, MKII has much less information to send/receive over a wireless connection, so the RB data may just be too much for wireless...

Same issue here.
My PS3 is on firmware 2.10
I'm running a linksys WRT54G router with the HYPER-WRT firmware mod.
Before digging further into this, I was at NAT-3. I gave myself a static ip and even tossed it into the DMZ (port forwarding won't work at this point in time, since I also have a win2k3 server in house). I now have NAT-2 and my signal strength is 100%. Running in G-Only mode, on channel 1 or 11 (both have the issue.)
I was able to get online last night for awhile, but now I can't, even after rebooting the PS3.
I can get online and surf the store, browse the internet, and play Resistance online without an issue.
Could it be a time out issue?

Update #1:
I was also able to play Motorstorm online with no problems using the Linksys router at my folks' house. RB still will not work online though.
Update #2:
Now, after the holidays, I went back to my place. I have a Belkin Pre-N router there. I can play online RB with absolutely no problems at all now, even though the signal is only at 45%-50%. I also noticed that I am NAT2 here, while I was on NAT3 at my folk's house.
I am thinking that the problem at my folks' has to do with the Linksys repeater I am using to get the wireless signal to the other end of the house. Perhaps there are too many hops or too much latency for RB to operate.

Sometimes if I go into a different area 1st, such as 'special features' or play a song, then try again, it will automagically be connected.
Most of the time, no bueno.
I was connected earlier, jumped off to grab the Metallica Pack, now I can't get back on.
Weak sauce.
