Has anyone else had it where the drums will randomly disconnect? It happened three times yesterday (just for the game yesterday) and we are mightly upset about this. Anything we can do or is our unit just defective?

My drums did not connect when I powered up tonight, even after multiple reboots. I trouble shot and it wasn't the USB hub, the 360 console or the small connector cord that goes in the hub. The problem had to be with the drums / long drum cord. They were working fine all day yesterday with no prior problems. They're first generation drums I got on release day.

In anger I smacked the XBox button on the drums with a drumstick, figuring I was going to have to return them anyway. That did the trick - works fine now. Whatever it takes, I guess.

Update from six hours ago: the drums worked fine while my friends were over. Everyone had a good time. The RB strat broke (downstrum no workie), so we called a break and I went to WalMart to pick up a (second) GH2 Xplorer - I was expecting this anyway, and since I'm not too crazy about the RB strat anyway it's so no big deal.

After they left, my yellow drum pad crapped out. I'm not interested in a "scotch tape and bubble gum" fix, so I just requested replacemets for both the guitar and drum from EA in one sitting - awesome!

I'm staying optimistic about the whole thing though:
1) I never plan to plug in the strat again. I'll just keep it around on the chance that someone comes over who prefers it over the GH controllers.
2) two day shipping means my new drums and guitar might arrive in time for new year's festivities. No one I know has RB yet, so they aren't very good at drums so no big loss.
3) I need to work on my singing anyway over my drumming, so this provides an opportunity to do so.

I think there should be a rating as to how much sh*t one is willing to put up with to enjoy a game. Don't get me wrong - RB is awesome and is the reason I bought an XBox and new TV, but I'd give the hardware sh*t rating 5/5 turds.

Happy New Years everyone.

I have the same issue. Rand0m instruments not "connecting" even when they're plugged in with OTHER instruments showing up just fine!

I have the same problem, but I've noticed that it only happens in Tour Mode and on the 3rd song I play. I'll unplug the drums, plug them back in and then they'll work for like 1 song after that then it would disconnect again.

But for me, I can play Quick Play all I want with the drums and I have no problems with it

I have the same problem. Just bought the special edition yesterday, so I have to say I'm not very impressed as the drums are the part I was excited about. (other than that everything is great) If I am doing solo drums it still makes me extremely mad, but the worst part is that Im trying to play with my GF on guitar and me on drums and I cut out mid song. It'd be nice to get an EA response to this.

I had the same thing happen to me last night. I've had the game since release and the drums have DC'd, but never for an extended period of time. I restart the game and it's fine.

Until last night when I restart the game and the PS3 button on the Drum kit is blinking in random patterns. Sometimes just fading out as if the LED is shot. My gut says it's a short in the wire since it can't maintain a connection, but it's not like I'm always right. I tried all the USB ports on the PS3 just to make sure and it was the same on each.

So, I guess I should be happy I got 2.5 months of play time in?

Got my set yesterday and the same problem occurred to me tonight. My PS3 drum got disconnected 3-4 times.

The problem seems to be inside the drum, I kept the drum controller plugged in and shook it and sometime it would turn off (while looking at the PS Home Button Red light). After a couple of shakings, it looked like it was working fine without any issues. So I'll just stick to it unless it happens again.

I'm having the same problem on my 360
first it would do it every 10 or so songs
now it's doing it twice a song. This problem has been on the board for months.. and still no help? I really really don't want to have to send my drums back, wait a few months to get a replacement, and find out it has the same problem...
PLEASE harmonix... help us!
