Hello, I looked around for a template, but couldn't find one (possibly just overlooked it). We are wanting to have a rock band tournament at my place of work, just for fun, but there are several different levels of play. I was wondering if there was a way to create a scoring template that puts everyone on an even playing field. Meaning that if someone has played quite a bit, and played a song at a higher difficulty level, and someone has never played, and plays on easy, that you could create a baseline score for each of them.
Thanks :)

As you've probably noticed if you've played the game already, after a song is over, you get a "star rating" from 1-5 stars. They fill up gradually throughout the song.
It's not perfect (someone who normally plays on Expert can play on Hard and get 5 stars more easily), but you could include rules that anyone who gets over a certain percent (shown after the song for each player) has to pick a higher difficulty. :)
The stars increase throughout the song as well, so it could add some tension. It's based on points/notes, and for 99.99% of the songs, harder songs/difficulties means less stars.

I have a way to do it but it takes some math that you would have to do on the spot. First take a star cutoff from here (http://rockband.yajags.com/cutoffs/?drums=none&bass=none&guitar=none&vocals=none&platform=rb2). Then divide that number by cutoff multiplier from here (http://wiki.scorehero.com/CutoffFormulas?show_comments=1#comments). That is the base score. Then divide the score by the base score. The result is the average multiplier which is the most fair way to compare across difficulties.
I can write up an example if you want.
EDIT: Say I want to compare two scores on the song Don't Stop Believing. One is on expert and the other is on medium. The scores are 124,163 and 67,628.
I take the gold/pyrite star cutoffs, (128319 and 69441) divide by the proper number (6.78 for bass) and get 18309 and 10242. Then I divide each score by that so I have 6.8 and 6.6. The person on expert wins.
Note that vocals is more complex because you half to figure out tambourines as well. I would advise you to tell them not to play the tambourines.
