It was announced today that the STAR TREK sequel will come out before the Mayan calendar expires!
Hey folks, Harry here (http://www.aintitcool.com/node/43576) with a wonderful factoid... You see, the Untitled STAR TREK sequel is scheduled to be released May 29th, 2012. Thank God! I don't know about you, but I very much want to see one last trek into JJ's special brand of STAR TREK. Now, it is also true that JJ is not officially helming this one, at least that hasn't been formally announced or decided yet. That they have a date, most likely, probably, could maybe mean they have a notion now of what they're going to attempt to make. But that's if you believe one needs to know what they're shooting, if it is up to snuff, etc - PRIOR to having a date put out there. That's the spectacular year of Pixar's NEWT, Disney's KING OF THE ELVES, the alleged 4th PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN, CARS 2, The second film of the HOBBIT stuff they're doing in New Zealand, ANT-MAN possibly, GHOSTBUSTERS 3, HEAVY METAL, and on and on and on... Some of those are dreams, like IRON MAN 3, but then JOHN CARTER OF MARS also hits. And will we get AVATWO before the Mayans press boom on that Earth-Busting Obsidian Doomsday Bomb!
But at the very least, it is being planned that there will be 1 last STAR TREK before the end of everything!

I'm looking foward to it, I really enjoyed the remake/sequel/re-imagining... whatever the heck it was, I liked it.

I hope it's not Khan. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Wrath of Khan was too good. Any attempt at a remake or retread is gonna fall short.

I never would have seen this one coming.
That said, I really enjoyed the reboot (even though some Trekkie friends of mine said it took a **** all over a timeline that I never fully understood anyway) and a new movie is definitely going to have the potential to wow.
Now if they could only get a new TV series out, as I love the seasons of TOS and TNG I've seen.

Whenever the next one comes out, I'll be in a theater seat to watch like I did for the first one.

Yup. That about sums it up for me.

Well I liked how the characters worked in the first one. With no writers strike this time around hopefully the next one will have a plot that actually makes sense.

I just watched the commentary, and I really hope JJ comes back, as it sounds like he ironed out the worse parts of the script (which WAS written by the same tag team that **** out Transformers 2...)
Other than that, can't wait!

That same tag-team wrote:
Fringe (awesome TV show).
Mission: Impossible III (awesome movie).
Star Trek (awesome movie).
Oddly enough, when they write with Abrams, it turns out good. Otherwise, it's bad.

Which should tell you something...
Also, fringe is epic win.
