Ver 1.01 update?

PS3 version of Rock Band.

I have a problem. Every time I try to play I get prompted by this Update Screen. Problem is, the update doesn't work, it gets to a certain point and stops entirely. I've sat and waited 10 minutes and it was still at 5%. Is this a real patch? What does it do?
Now, I can skip it and play the game, but playing online is impossible without the alleged 'patch.'
(Note: Same problem with GHIII.)

Earlier today it stopped notifying me of the false update. (For both Rock Band and GHIII.)

I have been trying to download Rock Band Update 1.01 for the PS3 since 12/25 via the title update prompt when the game begins with no success. Each time, the download progress advances to between 4% and 11% and then progress stops. After another minute or so, I get logged out of the Playstation Network with error 8002AD23. Another minute later I recieve "An error occured during the download operation. (80710723)".

I have no problems downloading content from the Playstation Store or downloading PS3 updates from the Playstation Network. I am even able to download Rock Band Add-On Content from the Playstation Store with no problems. I have even tried placing the PS3 in a DMZ to no avail. I am stymied.

I am having the same problem. I've searched the forums and such and haven't found an answer yet either.

i am having the exact same problem with my update as well, the thing is I don't even buy music on the playstation store, I just want to play online! but as i begin the update it shows error 80710723 between 7 and 18 percent! any answers in the future would be essential and very greatly appreciated!

The problem is your home network. You need to get on your router and open up the following ports for the PS3's IP address:

TCP port: 80, 443, 5223 and UDP port: 3478, 3479, 3658.

Same problem happens to me on both rockband and guitar hero 3 for ps3. Its the 80gig ps3. You guys are even lucky it takes you to the update place, mine freezes on totally black after i click it.

Mine downloads update and installs to 100% then gives me an install error. I skipped it, went into quick play and got as far as the load screen after selecting song then it froze. I don't know if it was the song I chose(DLC) or what. I'll try a regular ingame song later to see if I can limit it to DLC content or a bigger problem. I also have a self installed 250 gb hdd in my ps3.
