Pedal won't register notes?

Hey guys, got rockband for xmas and I noticed something wasn't right with the bass pedal. When the bass note comes up, and I press the pedal down, nothing happens unless I stomp on it very hard (which i read can easily crack the pedal). And it's not like I'm missing the note either. I noticed that when the pedal DOES register the hit, the bottom four colored pad icons shake a bit, and when I press on the pedal with anything less than a floor pounding stomp this doesnt happen. Anyone else have this issue?

I have a similar issue, for the first hour I was playing everything was fine, and then it stopped working, nothing wrong with the appearance. I have no idea how to fix this, and I'm also having troubles finding people with the same problem.
