Guitar downstrums not working

My guitar has a bit of an odd problem. Strumming the guitar upward (from a right handed point of view) works fine, but it has some problems strumming downwards. Is there anyway to fix this, besides getting a new guitar?

It's not an odd problem. Quite common actually. You can try to take it apart and fix it using one of several user-invented "mods". I tried the "rubberband mod" but it didn't help.

I RMA'd mine, you should too. Gives you a chance to perfect the drums. :o

I have officially joined your ranks. Ours wasn't working over the weekend, so hubby took it apart and did a small fix. Worked fine for two days and now we are having intermittent downstrum issues again. We will likely take it apart again in the interim, but we have a replacement one on the way as of this afternoon. *sigh* Even if we believe we could fix it, you don't know how long it will last, and it's better to be sure and have a new one sent from the manufacturer that will (hopefully) work...
