you have to play the BWT not single player career.
even if you just make a BWT band and never play one song it should work for you:)

I'm also having a problem linking, but with my PSN ID. I type in my PSN ID correctly (duh), but when I try the website code, it says one of the 2 is wrong. It doesn't help that I can't decipher what some of the letters are in the code......
