It sucks. Like with the fourth one, i'm sending it back in the same box it came in. First off it's all scratched up and oviously refurbished. I payed for a new guitar. I didn't **** mine up and sent it in for repairs. I got a defective one so i sent for a replacement. I bought a new guitar so i should get a new one god ****ing damn it! And if at least it would work. The strum bar wasnt responsive enough and overdrive goes off as soon as i get it. It's been over a month and still i cant play the damn guitar like god intended. Geez.

The game is only out a month how did you manage 5 guitars already? Your bank account must be empty. Nice try at a story, but try again with one...this time include fuzzy clouds and some pink elephants running around k

We could do without that kind of attitude. We paid for new, supposedly working hardware.

Not sure how you paid for your bundle but i know i had to work for my 170 bux that i forked over for non-working plastic.

Just be thankful you are actually getting replacement guitars sent to you with the possiblity you may get a working one. Ive been waiting since release date (Nov 17) to just submit a damn RMA for my guitar and drums - finally did on the 24th when it opened up for us Canadians and I've still havent heard anything back yet.

Wish EA would just suck up their pride and issue a recall. I mean run the math a class action of a ton of nerds is going to cost them a hell of a lot more.

I've already petitioned this with the BBB, can only encourage others with these problems to do the same.

The BBB is useless in this case. Their job is to act on behalf of the consumer when the offending business is being totally unresponsive. Given that EA is trying to replace things- however bad of a job they may be doing- they are not ignoring us.

Well, I'm still waiting for my 5th guitar. Here's proof, though. These are all my RMA requests so far (the dates are when the request was last updated by EA).

071220-008051 EA RMA Customer Request - Express 12/23/2007 | 04:57 AM Updated by EA

071207-002877 EA RMA Customer Request - Express 12/21/2007 | 04:28 PM Complete
Given that they offer 2-day express shipping and there have been 40 days since release of the game, I don't believe any pink elephants were involved.
And, when they ship guitars, they don't charge your bank account; they put a pre-authorization on your credit card. This means they just make sure that, in the event you don't send back the faulty one, you can cover their loss. No fuzzy clouds there.
Next time you are skeptical of someone's posting, please don't assume someone is lying. Everyone here loves this game and wants it to succeed despite the hardware issues we've all been having.
Let's all put the "Support" in "Tech Support", eh?

i just got my first replacement yesterday and it is clearly a previously used guitar
it is scuffed and has strings of hot glue hanging off of it
it is also missing a knob for the strap
oh and activating overdrive doesnt work either

The second guitar I got was a refurb as well. It works almost perfect except for it's a little harder to get overdrive going. I almost have to turn my guitar a complete 360 degree circle to get it going, I feel like zz top. I am skeptical about sending this one back because I just may get a guitar with even more problems. Any suggestions?

this is sad. where is the quality control EA? i mean i can understand the original batches made in china. but the refurbs i assume are done here in the US? we seem to be shipping them all back to Michigan. since we seem to be getting back refurbs i find it unlikely theyre being sent back to china for repairs and then back to the US and then being redistributed back to consumers.

I suspect a revolving door sort of refurbishment system. Other than green stickers, I have seen no improvements in my last two replacment guitars. The overdrive thing is killing me too. My third guitar arrived last week and it was pretty thrashed too. I'm sending it back today in the same box it came in. My second guitar has overdrive issues, but at least the whammy and strum bar are tighter. If I'm stuck with a faulty guitar, I think I'd rather have this one than anything I might get in the next few weeks. I love the game but I'm really losing hope on getting a fully functional guitar.

My husband and I recently received our replacement guitar and the overdrive wasn't working at all. After researching that many people had the same problem we decided to take a look ourselves....As some people suggested we took the backing off and check the sensor. My husband that has some knowledge bout electronics found which one was the sensor. Unscrewed the sensor chip and switched it in many different ways and finally the outcome of it was that we turned it upside down, tested it again...AND WA-LA....It worked...it now activated the overdrive when tilted. SOOO AWSOME....I don't know if anyone wants to try...but the chip is right next to the strum bar and it is set vertically at compareson to the other chip boards that are laying flat. It's small and screwed in with 2 screws that have a wide head to keep the chip in place....if anyone trys this ...hope it helps....:)

i got my second guitar 2 days ago. im pretty sure its a refurb but at least it works. my strum bar would get stuck on the old guitar and i would have to hold it in the middle for it to stop registering as notes. this one is very tight (maybe even too tight. i'll give it a couple days to figure it out) and actually weighs more than the last one did.
now my replacement drums on the other hand... sheesh.....

I started to have problems with the fender about 6 hours after opening up the box. Strum bar way too responsive, not registering keys obviously hit.
Great to know that getting a replacement will be a piece of cake (yeah, right)
Glad I own GH one, two and three, at least I will have something to play that actually works.

I feel really sorry for you PS3 owners...
I played 1 song on the RB guitar and then chucked it in the corner and went back to the GH3 black les paul wireless. That controller is just the best. Between all the GH3 I played (including many many many attempts at TTFATF) I'm amazed the thing is still rock solid and works as great as when I first opened it--wireless to boot.
The rockband controller almost immediately to me felt cheap and clunky. My orange and blue fret buttons clicked really loudly, and I definitely didn't like the feel of the strum bar. As for the solo buttons and the effects switch, they weren't interesting enough to be worth putting up with a substandard wired controller IMO. Need I mention the variances in quality from unit to unit? My buddy's RB guitar was quieter than mine and felt a lot different when playing, and this guy here is on his 5th guitar trying to find one that works right.
If you have a 360 I'd recommend scrapping the RB guitar and going out and buying GH3 just for the controller. If you have a PS3.. well sucks to be you I guess. :( I hope they can resolve this dispute and patch the client but I don't see that happening any time soon.

Chances are it will be unfortunately. I gave up after my second replacement. I'm waiting for 3rd party instruments.

Being a PS3 owner, I'm a little annoyed about not being able to play bass, but I'm having so much fun with the drums that I can wait. Oh, and the PS3 RB guitar is wireless, too, so don't feel too sorry for me. :D
I haven't played with the GH3 controller, but when I first played at a friend's house on his 360, I didn't like the RB guitar all the much either, so I played with his old GH controller. Since I've gotten the game, though, I've gotten used to its differences, so you might want to give it a few songs before you give up on it completely.
I need to fire up GH so I can compare the controllers now that I've actually played for a while... or I could just go play some more Rock Band.

i got my replacement and it works good. the overdrive is still a pain and my fret buttons are really loud now but it works and looks like it was new.

Just got my replacement. Looks good. Strum bar has a much better feel and was hitting all the notes. Was about to be very pleased, until i tried playing a solo on the small frets... the small yellow fret button makes a loud clicky sound and isn't registering most of the notes. After tapping it some, it seems to be responding on the menus, but It still doesn't sound or feel like the other buttons or like the ones on my old guitar. I will have to try it out more later after work.
