How many people are satified with RB's strum bar?
or should HMX have stuck to a more GH3 like design?

It took me a defective guitar and then a little time to get used to it, but I like this strum bar design better than any of the others.
It's a lot more effective for me.

I like the strum bar it's so much more quieter then GH's. It took a little getting used though

I think a lot of people just don't give the strum bar a chance. They try it out, think "Ew" because it's completely different from what they're used to, and give up on it. I think it would be kind of interesting to see if more PS3 owners like the Strat than 360 owners, since PS3 owners don't have the choice of using another guitar and are kind of forced to get used to the Strat.
But yeah, I like the strum bar just fine. Although the GH style probably is better for accuracy in fast sections.

I have a PS3, and own both GH3 LP and RB Strat.
Personally I like the strat alot better.
As for accuracy on the fast sections, get use to the smaller buttons down the neck.

I'm a bit indifferent, although I'm still waiting for my replacement guitar to ship. The strum bar on the GH feels more home-y and yields better scores for me, but the Strat in and of itself, as well as the strum bar, feels much more realistic.

If you're coming over from playing GH (like myself) then you are gonna have to take some time to get use to the strum bar and there is gonna be pissin' and moanin' from the veteran GH players.
I am adapting to it.....the RB strum bar takes a much lighter touch (and in the process it doesn't make as much noise.....which is a good thing). Verdict out for me, but I think in time I will like it.

It works for me. Of course, I had never played Guitar Hero before, but now I have both. Bought Rock Band myself and GH3 for Christmas.

In what way was your guitar defective?

I pretty much hadn't even held a guitar controller until my friend brought me over to play Rock Band (after getting it on launch day, of course). In short succession I experienced the Rock Band Strat as well as the Gibson X-Plorer, and as an "outsider", I've found that I like the Strat a LOT more, in general. It just feels a lot better to hold, and I had no difference in scores or hitting notes. Currently I use the Strat, with the Gibson on bass duty for whoever drops by to play.

At first, hated it. Im growing to like it though. Im not really happy with how it responds to fast alternate strumming, but everything else is fine. I love the new fret buttons however.
The strat feels so much.....less like a toy.

I'm a big guy with big hands and the Xplorer feels like a little toy in my hand... I love the strat and always prefer using it when we get the band together--- nobody argues with me because my fellow GH buddies rather play with a strum bar that "clicks".
As said before it takes some getting used to but once you get past the "it doesn't click!" gripes, the strats strum is fine.
The strat is my favorite guitar controller out of the three I've used... (xplorer, strat, les paul)-- my only complaints are it's wired, the sound fx switch is kinda stupid to me and seems to always get in the way, and sometimes the controller activates overdrive without me moving a muscle and other times I'm swinging it around like it's Donatello's staff from TMNT and I can't get it to go into overdrive. Although the tilt problem is rare it still gets on my nerves when it happens.

Broken downstrum. At first it was iffy, then it turned into a double-strum, then it quit altogether.
It took two replacements to get a controller I was satisfied with--the second controller had problems with the tilt sensor.

I think that its not wide enough (like a real guitar you can kinda strum anywhere) but i like it besides that.

I think that its not wide enough (like a real guitar you can kinda strum anywhere) but i like it besides that.
I was thinking about a way to make it a strumable surface for real multi-string strumming technique to work. Maybe some dummy (fixed) high spots around the strum or a wide "grill" strum could do that.
Overall I like Stratocaster strum since it is more like a guitar. I don't care what gives me the higher scores. I care what does the best job recreating the experience. I've also rubber band - taunted my strum for an even better experience.

Personally, I just want a strum bar that is at least a foot long. That way I can windmill strum like Pete Townsend (from the who) and it will work as planned....
I'm still trying to get used to the strat, and prefer the les paul...also hard to go back to wires... have a tougher time pulling the strat back behind my head and playing it backwards on my shoulders while it's connected to the xbox (seriously, it's fun! try it...)

I had only played a little of GH3 before getting RB so I wasn't used to either strum. We are currently using the X-Plorer guitar for RB as I had to put in my RMA yesterday. Did the express 2-Day shipping to get it sooner. On mine as posted above was the strum bar. It just finally stopped working.

I like some aspects of it...
The way it works and generally feels is fine, all quiet and what not.
What I don't like is the shape of it. Its made for ppl who wanna grab it between their finger and thumb and double strum up and down. What I like to do is play with passion and bash the crap outta that little thing with my thumb, putting my whole arm into it.

The only thing I could ask for from the Strat strum bar is some tactile feedback when you activate the switch, as this lack of feedback is what takes time to master. Overall, I love it, and love playing with a pick. Mostly, it just feels good, is silent, and is large enough to finger-pick.

The clicking noise from the GH strum bars always got on my nerves, they really made you feel like you were playing with a plastic toy (wonder why ). I feel most complaints are coming from people who had GH perfected and expected to just be able to pick it up and play.

I miss the GH "click" and the RB guitar just doesn't seem to allow me to altstrum like I could with GH guitars.
