What horror stories. Only one rerecord has been released and it was Semi Charmed on GHVH and it was just fine.. In fact the vocal quality of the song was better IMO.

Like I said in the prediction thread, I feel HMX has some large pack coming soon. We haven't really had a badass pack since Queen, and so something needs to happen. Fingers crossed its a Sabbath/CCR/*anything big* pack to counter some of these great acquisitions GH is getting.

Kudos to Activision for having Black Sabbath masters. If I recall, the masters were "unusable" at one point...I guess HMX will be able to acquire them as well sometime (or already have). Pitty they only release 3 songs as 3 songs aren't enough to bring justice to Black Sabbath. A 10 is the least they should provide. And like someone already said, no "Supernaut"? No thanks.

It is possible that some still don't work. Note that all the songs are from Master of Reality, this could mean that other albums (like Paranoid perhaps) don't have ususable masters but Master of Reality does. Just a theory.

Some decent stuff for GH - but I tend to only buys songs I know really well for GH. I buy my "this sounds interesting" and "I sorta know this song" in RB. I loved playing the CCR stuff earlier today. :)

Well I can bring in some joy of masters.

Paranoid was released in 5.1 dts for the anniversary and the only possible way of doing that is to have the actual master tracks. Thats why Who's Next wasn't able to be made into 5.1, because they didn't have the usable multi track masters. So Paranoid master tracks are usable, I think the whole reason why we finally got some Sabbath masters now was because the label was WB (and we know how they are) so maybe there was a change of heart or just an open mind to these music games from WB.

The Sabbath songs will be ridiculously fun on guitar and drums. If they could only use Masters of Reality songs, I may have replaced After Forever with Children of the Grave. They're all great though. I'm hoping for more in the future with Rock Band countering this with a 10-pack at least.

I'm excited to see masters from Ozzy in GH, as it means they could start coming RB's way as well. This is one of GH's stronger months in a long time, and a great follow up to the CCR pack. One thing I like is that even though they're bands that have been involved with RB in the past, they've gone out and gotten OTHER songs from those bands.

Very jealous of "From Yesterday", as it's one of the songs on my "OMG BUY NOW!" list if it ever came to RB.

For the last few weeks I have been telling you about a huge project coming up. Well, yesterday I submitted our work for approval and it was approved, so very soon we will be able to say 'what' this very big announcement is. Rest assured it involves a new song that I have just recently written, with more co-writing from Chris Broderick. It's another aggressive, complicated Megadeth track, and I will give you more details as soon as I can.

It says 2 major releases with 10 SKUs and no PS2 games. That doesn't add up to only 2 hero games.

DJ Hero = 3
GH 6 = 3
Assume DS = 1

That leaves another game for 360,Wii & PoS3.
Broader audience implies no BH,it'll be fused into GH 6. 45 BH style songs and 45 GH styles songs?
Megadeth will probably be in-game characters for GH 6 as it would be silly to give them their own game now.

Somewhat more valid, since both were built to succeed Guitar Hero 2. Glad to see that Activision let loose the shackles and allowed Neversoft to do a little innovating of their own in the franchise with the fifth though. Pity about all the layoffs, they finally seemed like they were getting to take the series where they wanted it instead of trying to play catch up to HMX. Hopefully six will be a strong entry and VV will keep the ball rolling.

Layoffs at Radical and Neversoft, while Luxoflux, Underground Development and Red Octane get shut down.

Activision has gone on a murderous rampage today, laying off a ton of staff and even closing two studios. Radical and Neversoft have been hit with layoffs but the exact number is unknown, and rumours suggest more could go at Neversoft once Guitar Hero 6 is done. Speaking to IGN, the company has said, "Activision Publishing continually evaluates its resources to ensure that they are properly matched against its product slate and strategic goals. In 2010, the company’s SKU count will be smaller than in 2009 driven in part, by a decrease in the number of music-based games we will be releasing."

In worse news Activision has shut developers Luxoflux and closed Red Octane as well. Luxoflux’s last game was Transformers Revenge of the Fallen; meanwhile, Red Octane is the company who, with Harmonix, created the Guitar Hero guitars. Reports also suggest Activision is closing the studio that developed Guitar Hero: Van Halen, Underground Development.

It did. I was pointing out how there's no way DJ Hero 2 and GH 6 could possibly add up to 10 SKU's with no PS2 versions. Even WITH that they don't add up to 10. So logically if one were to be a DS game that would leave 3 slots,just enough for another main console game.

Perhaps the most anticipated DLC for any game in months, the Black Sabbath pack for Guitar Hero 5, will have fans waiting a bit longer, it seems.

Moments ago, the official Guitar Hero Twitter account tweeted, "Unfortunately, the Black Sabbath DLC for GH5 will not be available this week. We hope to have it at a later date, so stay tuned!"

This comes on the heels of numerous Guitar Hero-related layoffs, including the vast majority of Guitar Hero developer, Neversoft. There is no indication on whether or not these two stories are related in any way. There is also no word on if something else will be released in the pack's place.

UPDATE: The official Guitar Hero Twitter account has responded to my inquiry about replacement DLC and it looks like there will be no DLC this week. The reply simply stated, "New DLC will resume next week with Third Eye Blind released on 2/25." Still no word on when we'll see the Black Sabbath DLC.

I completely agree. Flogging Molly is one of my all-time favorite bands so RB will have to pull something huge to top GH that week. Maybe that week HMX can give us some Flogging Molly, more Dropkick Murphys and (even though they're Scottish - not Irish) The Real McKenzies. That would beat GH for damn sure! Of course, I'm biased so all RB would have to do is release the exact same songs as GH that week and RB would win.

Actually a substantial month for Guitar hero, good for them,
1)HOWEVER, we have all the songs in the first week, so RB automatically wins that week,
2)I love OK GO and hope we get some soon, but we already ahve Here it goes again, but I love Get Over it and Do What You want so GH might win

The Flogging Molly pack is awesome, it's great that one of my favorite bands is getting a 3-pack containing one of my favorite songs (The Seven Deadly Sins). I'm buying that for sure as well as Girls Girls Girls even though it's not among my most wanted Mötley Crüe songs, I'll take anything we're given. Can't wait for next month, that Flogging Molly pack should be incredibly fun to play. The OK Go songs sound pretty good as well, so I'll probably pick those up as well.

I don't think they gave up so much as were forcibly removed.

I still think Activision has a screw or seventeen loose to sack most(if not the entire team) responsible for the series(they just nailed the formula with GH5 in my opinion).

Starting over with a relatively inexperienced (handling ports and choosing and creating songs on your own are two entirely different things) team just seems like a giant mistake and step backwards to me.

I don't see it being a "flaw" when GH gets songs that RB has. Not everyone has both games, and neither company should make decisions based on people having both RB and GH.

That being said, I'll buy the same songs for RB and DLC. For one thing, the charts are different. For another, I like having songs I enjoy in both games so I don't have to quit the game I'm in to play that song in the other.
