View Full Version : RB2 Bundle Strat and TB:RB Gretsch (Wii) at the same time?

Picked up the Gretsch (Wii) as a second guitar because my RB1 wireless standalone bit the dust. Love it.
But... whenever we want to play guitar and bass at the same time, and we try plugging in both the RB2 strat and the Gretsch at the same time, an error message pops up. "Extra controller detected. The Wii can support only up to four controllers at one time. Please disconnect the extra..." or something like that.
This happens even when the two guitars are the only dongles plugged in (no drums or mic). Has anyone been able to get the RB2 bundle strat and a TB:RB Guitar to work at the same time for the Wii?

I am a newbie and not HMX tech support or anything, but it sounds like you're doing the same thing I am. On our Wii, the original RB2 and the TB:RB Hoffner bass can both be used at the same time and either one can be used as bass or guitar. The two guitar dongles must be plugged into the Wii individually and you can daisy-chain the drum dongle and microphones to either one. (That is, you can't daisy-chain the bass dongle into the guitar dongle or the other way around.) To be extra-sure you're doing it right, unplug power from the Wii, hook up the two guitar/bass dongles into separate USB ports, and power up the Wii. It should work just fine from that point.
(Though we infrequently get dropouts where the dongles reconnect all by themselves in the middle of gameplay, but that's different from what you're experiencing.)

Thanks for the reply. Tried both RB2 and TB:RB tonight with the guitars plugged in to separate USB ports at start up and both worked.
I thought I had tried that, but looking back, the first time it happened was on New Years' Eve, and the second time was during a RB get together. May have been in no condition to troubleshoot either time
