Where the heck do you buy extra Stratocaster Controllers for RockBand? I'd like to have a spare around for when any of my friends that DONT own 360s or PS3s happen to drop by.

(Or, in one case, for when my stubborn 360-devoted friend invites me over/ hangs at my place...)

I checked the obvious places: rockband.com's store, harmonixmusic.com, & ea.com... nothing. Then I tried mtv.com's Games area as a last resort... still nothing.

There are plenty of notices pointing me to where I'd need to go to get one replaced if it breaks, but none to help me with having a spare on-hand just in case of breakage or to share with friends. Waiting a week for shipping & repairs on my Stratocaster would suck if it happens to break.

You're getting charged for your *ahem*"replacement"*ahem* guitar if it breaks and credited when you *ahem*"return"*ahem* your *ahem*"broken"*ahem* guitar, right?

But you can't figure out how to get an extra guitar?

Not sure why you'd want a 2nd one. It's just going to break within a week. /shrug

Yea..it's $125. I was thinking that would be a cool way to get the second guitar, but that's a bit more than I want to pay. I'm just going to get GHIII and use the guitar from that for bass. Get it for $89 and plus you get the game to boot.

I just hope third parties develop some really durable equipment that is made to last and which won't break. Hell, I'd pay $150 for a quality guitar that I don't feel like I need to baby. I don't play to my fullest now cause I don't want to break the dang thing early : )

See... this is why I'm hoping someone from Harmonix or EA will glance across this thread and say something...

I'm not interrested in *ahem* illegitimate *ahem* means of acquiring an extra guitar - especially not if it's going to cost me almost as much as the entire RockBand setup cost. (If the Stratocaster was really worth $125, you're telling me the drumkit, mic, & game all put together were only worth $55? Umm... no, nice try.)

And while I appreciate the offer on the GHII controller - assuming that wasn't a typo and you meant GHIII - I still have my first one, works great since I replaced that flimsy broken spring with a doubled-up rubber O ring; however, I don't feel like using those lag-inducing PS2-to-USB converters or I'd have already gone that route.

Some of us would just like to purchase an extra guitar controller of the kind made for the game like we used to be able to do with GuitarHero. Frankly, the only thing I'm worried about breaking on my Stratocaster is the whammy bar, same as happened on my (and ALL of my friends') GHII controllers, and I already know how to fix that ~ done it three times.

So, at any rate... EA, Harmonix? Any word on when we can purchase them individually?

No, they are not telling you that the rest of the kit only cost $55. They are trying to discourage people from using illegitimate means to procure a second guitar. It used to be that the hold/cost of the replacement guitar was around $80. Then $90. Then $100. Then $125. They got wise fast that people were promoting lying about a broken guitar in order to get a replacement one sent to them, and just letting them charge your card when you didn't return the "broken" one. And they will likely continue to jack the hold-cost as high as they need to to keep down people who are cheating the system to get a second guitar before they are released.
