Everybody's favorite animal right organization is at it again.

PUNXSUTAWNEY, Pa. -- An animal rights group wants organizers of Pennsylvania's Groundhog Day festival to replace Punxsutawney Phil with a robotic stand-in.
People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals says it's unfair to keep the animal in captivity and subject him to the huge crowds and bright lights that accompany tens of thousands of revelers each Feb. 2 in Punxsutawney, a tiny borough about 65 miles northeast of Pittsburgh. PETA is suggesting the use of an animatronic model.
But William Deeley, president of the Inner Circle of the Punxsutawney Groundhog Club, says the animal is "being treated better than the average child in Pennsylvania." The groundhog is kept in a climate-controlled environment and is inspected annually by the state Department of Agriculture.
Deeley says PETA isn't interested in Phil from Feb. 2 on, and is looking for publicity.

we need a robot to sub for PETA, preferably one that doesn't embarrass animal rights supporters on a regular basis.

Then they'll complain how robo-Phil is being mistreated.

While I will admit that Robot Day has a certain ring to it (we traditionally celebrate it by hiding from the robots), I still pretty much have to say screw PETA.

I say after he sees or doesn't see his shadow we should cook him and eat him in front of PETA headquarters.

This is pitiful. A thousand people freezing their butts off waiting to worship a rat. What a hype. Groundhog Day used to mean something in this town. They used to pull the hog out, and they used to eat it. You're hypocrites, all of you!

There is no way that this winter is *ever* going to end as long as this groundhog keeps seeing his shadow. I don't see any other way out. He's got to be stopped. And I have to stop him.

Why would anybody steal a groundhog?
I can probably think of a couple of reasons... pervert.

It's the same thing your whole life: "Clean up your room. Stand up straight. Pick up your feet. Take it like a man. Be nice to your sister. Don't mix beer and wine, ever." Oh yeah: "Don't drive on the railroad track."

People just don't understand what is involved in this. This an art-form! You know, I think that most people just think that I hold a camera and point at stuff, but there is a *heck* of a lot more to it than just that.

“Would you support an experiment that would sacrifice 10 animals to save 10,000 people?”
No. That's PETA for you.
Also,
If you take your dog or cat to PETA, you expect them to get kind, loving treatment. But what they really get is euthanized at a shocking rate.
According to the latest statistics, the “so-called” animal rights organization killed 99.7% of the animals they receive.
The nonprofit Center for Consumer Freedom (CCF) published documents online showing that People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) killed 95 percent of the adoptable pets in its care during 2008. Despite years of public outrage over its euthanasia program, the animal rights group kills an average of 5.8 pets every day at its Norfolk, VA headquarters.
According to public records from the Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, PETA killed 2,124 pets last year and placed only seven in adoptive homes. Since 1998, a total of 21,339 dogs and cats have died at the hands of PETA workers.
To repeat, only seven out of 2,124 pets were adopted. And the rest were euthanized. That means they euthanized 99.7% of all the pets that were brought to them.

^that
My main issue with PETA is that they have been making attacks against the dairy industry. I remember the leader or whatever of the organization once threatened to bring the hoof and mouth disease to the World Dairy Expo. That is pretty much like you walking into a building and saying you have a bomb.
There are other things I won't get into now.

PETA rubs me the wrong way too often. They're the type of people who say "I don't like this, so it should be banned" and they come up with ridiculous and logic-lacking ways to do so. Such as, going to farms and setting cows free and all the cows end up dead in a week.
