Just quick question, I'm sure its covered in here somewhere but do you have to be signed in to an xbox live account to play the dlc?? Or once its downloaded can you play it from any profile?? LIke its part of the game once its downloaded?
Just because my internet connection isn't xbox live friendly, I just use it for updates, extra game content, etc. Playing online is difficult due to NAT issues.

As long as it is being played on the original console that downloaded it the dlc can be played offline on any profile. You only have to be on xbox live to play the dlc if you downloaded it on a different console then switched hard drives.

Well how does this prevent piracy? If I login at a friends house using my XBL account on his HDD then he/she can use it as well to play my DLC, without ever having to purchase it? Maybe I'm just confused, which is possible...?

This is absolutely correct...except you can't be logged-in to XBL twice. If you tried to login, it would kick him off, and the content wouldn't be available for him.

He will have to log in to your Live account and play the game as you every time he wants to use the DLC.

.....as well as you can't be logged into two XBL accounts on one box right? Sorry for being a PITA, I just got my 360 bcuz of Rockband, I'm still tryin to figure things out.
