I am having the same problem. Everytime the 360 tries to connect to the Rock band server, my system freezes. I can connect and use Xbox Live for anything else (though I haven't tried using other games yet) and I used to be able to connect to the server with no difficulty.

Same issue here. I've had my 360 mostly offline since the game launched. Occasionally, I'd download some new songs from the marketplace. Today, I just moved into a new apartment and got a solid internet connection. I put in Rock Band while connected to Live and the game will freeze the console at the "Communicating with Rock Central server..." screen. All my other games are working fine. Seems to just be Rock Band. Any fix?

Still wondering if there is a fix for this.

Xbox Live was having issues from right after Christmas to within the past few days. For much of that time, I'd get the "Communicating..." dialog like you guys, and after downloading new songs, it would take a long time to load as well. Yesterday and today have been great, though. Loading up only takes a few seconds, and it doesn't hang when it works with Live anymore.

Everything should be working fine for you now.

Was it literally freezing with a hard lock of the sytem or just taking like a minute to load?

I had issues for a bit, much as described by AnonymousSkull, went away on their own. So far the game has yet to actually hard lock my system. I can always bring up the XBL guide with the guide button and go to dashboard.

XBL has been going to poop again the past few days. I'm sure it'll clear up soon enough.

It is actually hard locking my console. The image of the drummer will freeze up and the XBox guide button is unresponsive. I thought that maybe it was just taking a while, so I let it sit there for a couple hours on a few occasions. Still nothing. I also noticed that there's no network activity to or from my XBox during that time either. I keep trying a few times every day hoping that it will magically go away, but the problem has hung around for a couple weeks now.

Same issue here. Only way to fix is to disconnect the network connection.....This is pretty lame...

TJR (and others experiencing this issue):

Could you please send me a private message with the following information (I need gamertags, so if you don't feel the need to keep those private, feel free to simply post in here)?

*note* In the meantime, as another user said, try unplugging your ethernet cable and play without connecting.

1. Gamertag
2. Do you have a gold or silver account?
3. Under what conditions is this happening? Any details you can provide will help.
4. When did this start happening? The first time you connected to Rock Central?
5. Does this happen when you're logged in using a different gamertag?
6. Your router (brand/model) and internet configuration (the more details you can provide, the better)

Thanks!

When I first got rockband i could connect fine but, my xbox was still suffering form non-stop halo 3. It overheated over and over, so we took it back to the store and got a new one (My dad yelled at the guys after he said 3-6 weeks if we ship it away and he gave us a new one) Now this was a core system, and my game started crashing everytime i tried to connect, but when my cousin brought his hard drive over i plugged it in and it connected fine, so its not the xbox, it must have something to do the the game data. I hope this helps Harmonix come to a solution because this is really starting to piss me off.

If any other users are experiencing a crash connecting to Rock Central, please throw me a PM.

You are experiencing this if:
...you are freezing when game data is uploading.
...after freezing repeatedly, you no longer get the freeze when unplugging your network cable.

Let me know!

It is hard locking my console also, the image of the drummer freezing up and the XBox guide button being unresponsive (after a while, the remote gamepad turns off, but trying to activating it back has no effect as the console remains unresponsive). The game just hangs the console to death. :(

Hey All! Has a fix been found for this problem? I've been playing rock band since before Christmas but just recently connected the xBox 24/7 and it locks up everytime it tries to communicate with Rock Central. Same thing, if I unplug the ethernet it's fixed but now with the Music Store in Rockband, it'd be nice to just be able to leave it connected all the time!

I figured out the problem with this. My Saved Game Data was corrupt. I moved the Rockband saved data file from my HD on to a memory card temporarily, fired up the game and started out all over again and it worked fine. Put the file back on the hard drive and it locked up again.

Unfortunately it means that you have to delete the file and create all your characters again and unlock all your songs again which takes a while of course!

I'm pretty sure that the cause of the problem happened last Friday (April 4th) when I connected to xBox live to try and download "Still Alive" and the update to get the Rockband Store. Because of the big release on that day (new levels for one of the big games... shows you how much of a gamer I am, I don't even know what game it was :), anyway because of the amount of traffic on xBoxLive that day, the update for Rockband failed repeatedly when I tried until I finally had to give up. I did eventually get the upgrade but I'm thinking that in the process not getting it after so many attempts, the Game data was corrupted somehow.

So anyway, you don't need to delete all your downloaded content etc, just the saved game data and it seems to fix the problem.

I don't know if others followed this sequence to end up with the issue:

- I used to play Rockband using my local Xbox account with name UserABC (fictive);
- Later on, I plugged the Xbox on the Internet and activated the account on LIVE, which forced me to change my username from UserABC to UserABC123; Played some games on LIVE to test, all working fine;
- I launched Rockband, got the update, accessed the Store; All right;
- Selecting "Communauty" option from the main menu, the "Leaderboards" goes from gray to active color to select; Selecting the option freezes the console while showing up the message "Communicating with the Rock Central server..."; The same result happens browsing the menu options when the game tries to sync up with the "Rock Central"...

The current workaround is kind of annoying and I wish there was a better solution (than disconnecting the network access any time I want to play from now on).

Thanks in advance for any feedbacks!

P.S.: The console hangs definitely, no input device buttons have any action. After a while the gamepad turns off and when activating it back, it search forever trying to find a console.

P.S.: Following message from RelaxedVirus; I confirm that I got the same kind of issues with updating the game (failed in many attempts before it completes); Thanks for this ultimate solution, which is also disappointing but not the last better than plugging/unplugging the network adapter, I guess.

i had the exact same problem: logging in a profile with the latest patch causes game to freeze at start, so i would have to either not sign in a profile or clear the cache and use an older patch. for me this problem was caused by a specific downloadable song - margaritaville. one or more of your songs is glitched, to fix you would have to use the process of elimination and delete each song one by one and seeing when your game works again and then redownload the songs that didn't cause the problem. good luck.

2. Do you have a gold or silver account?
Silver/Free
3. Under what conditions is this happening? Any details you can provide will help.
Constantly, whenever it has to load any info. May only do it when connected to internet.
4. When did this start happening? The first time you connected to Rock Central?
Only does it on new xbox 360 but does it every time it connects to Rock Central. Even Xbox Guide button on controller starts flashing like it's lost communication with the console. It never did this on old one, though I believe an update was released since I last played RB2 on my old system almost 9-10 months ago.
5. Does this happen when you're logged in using a different gamertag?
Unknown, don't have any other gamertags to try it with, will try next time a friend visits.
6. Your router (brand/model) and internet configuration (the more details you can provide, the better)
Does this with Netgear 802.11n router wired or wireless, Linksys WRT54G wired and wireless, and with 2wire AT&T wireless router/dsl-Uverse modem. Haven't tried while completely disconnected from Internet yet. Will try tomorrow.

Thanks!
BTW in case y'all didn't know, there's a song whose title displays as "Database Corrupted". I seriously have NO idea what the song title was supposed to be, but y'all might wanna get that fixed. It makes people thing their game data is damaged and that they have to redownload the song.
