Hey all,

I got the game for my 12 y.o. son for Christmas. We played most of the day & I played the guitar almost the whole time. Near the end of the day I started noticing the guitar not working all the time on the downstrokes.

The day after, the guitar doesn't work on almost all of the downstrokes except if you hardly touch it.

I set up to have them send a new one through the online support. I will give them cudos for the way that they do it. As long as you provide a credit card # (which is not charged) they send you a new guitar 2 day shipping. Then you send yours back in a ready made package.

Have there been consistant issues with the guitars? I played one in a store that did not seem to be holding up very well either.

Tks,

Tom

before someone responds with a rude answer, yes. there has been a ridiculous amount of problems with the hardware. this forum was created for that very reason. immediately after launch the main rock band forum was littered with complaints.

it's been working out well, but not for all. hopefully your experience goes smoothly. mine did.

Tks AVC,

I kind of figured that there was. I can deal with such issues as long as they are working out the kinks.

How was your experience a good one? Did you have a guitar replaced that worked out well?

well actually, my replacement wasnt that great. the overdrive does not work properly, so i will be requesting a new replacement. the strum issue appears to be resolved with a new design.

but i say the experience was smooth because i dont know of many companies that handle warranty replacements where you can hold on to the defective item until the new one arrives (provided you give them your credit card #). i mean sure it places a pending charge (hold) on the card, but i personally dont think it's a big deal. if that charge messes up your credit line on the card then i have to question why you spend $ on a video game instead of taking care of your debt.
sorry a bit off tangent there.

but yeah i put in my request, and two days later it was sent out on UPS via 2-day air. usually youd see companies go cheap and pick an economical shipping service. although when you send back your guitar (and unfortunately i think for those that pick standard and dont get a replacement first) it goes back to EA via UPS ground, so that slows the process a bit.

there were quite a few people that requested warranty replacements early on and were put on the backburner while other folks were seeing 2-3 day turnaround times. mustve been a glitch with the process EA initially set up. they realized that they f'd up and offered a free game to those that were put through the inconvenience.

Interesting...because yes, I did notice that when I raise the guitar for the overdrive it was not working too well either. I just started using the button for it.
