Questions about guitar controller

I own rock band 2 for the wii, but I use a Guitar hero 3 controller to play. I decided to purchase a Guitar Hero 5 Controller as a second guitar but wanted to ask If the digital slider has any purpose in Rock Band 2. Does it perform the same function as the extra set of frets on a stratocaster RB2 guitar? Thanks.

I also wanted to ask what the second set of frets on a rock band 2 controller does? I read that it's for solos, but is that it's only purpose? Thanks

No, the slide on the GH guitar does not work on RB and the Solo buttons (the smaller frets) work on GH but not the way they do on RB; basically they're just a second set of buttons.

As far as the solo buttons on RB, they work the same as the upper frets unless you are playing a solo. If you are in a solo, you don't have to strum.
