I had to post. Heres the story. My guitar broke a month ago!!! I asked for the box, they sent me the box. I mailed the box back with the broken guitar. I get the guitar in the mail yesterday. Guess what??? They sent the wrong one!!!!! I have a PS3 and they sent me an Xbox. WTF.
HMXguys, whoever you are. I have been in customer service for 20 years. I have never felt so abandoned by a company. You guys doing the boards may be cool but your customer service SUCKS!!!!!!
So, I fill out another RMA yesterday. Not even looked at yet. I called the number no answer. Give me a break. Anyone know how yo go about getting my money back cause I am done with this company. I will probably go to the BBB and the NYS Attorney General to file a complaint. No lawsuit. Theres no interest. Just done.

Before you start throwing accustations around like they're hot potatoes, you should probably check the information... chances are that you hit XBox Guitar instead of PS3 on accident...
Plus, the fact that they haven't checked the RMA doesn't mean anything. There is update delays, and there is always the fact that they are handling hundreds of cases like yours. Don't be so selfish.

EA handles RMA's ***** at them. Rock Band is an awesome game and I'm truly sorry you can't enjoy it but the warranties are handled by EA Games.

It's a couple days after Christmas... the absolute busiest time of year no matter what kind of tech support you're in. Chill, put it on speakerphone, and be polite to the person who eventually answers-- no company out there can fully staff for the holidays, phone-support-wise, and those people are overworked.
And yay, cuz when you're done, you'll get to play Rock Band! It's worth it. ;)

First off, What R U talking about Accusations? Its called a statement. Second, UMMM, NO, I clicked the PS3 button, the enclosed packing slip says PS3 guitar.
As far as selfish. If you think waiting a month or should I say about 5 weeks is being selfish you must just be here to give stupid answers.
As far as everyone else thanks for the replies. Yeah I am not very happy. obviously. I am curious to see who else has problems like these as well. I have read many posts on here with similar problems.

There's a bunch of people on the Tech Support forum saying that they got the wrong systems guitar or a box with nothing in it. It sucks hearing that, I just got my bundle for PS3 yesterday and have been playing for 2 days straight with no problems (except for mic, but I probably just suck at singing) so I'm hoping I'm one of the lucky ones who got some good peripherals.

Yeah I am not very happy.
I'm not either. My first guitar started to develop a faulty strummer after a couple of hours after I got the bundle (11/20). I wasn't able to send out an RMA because of Thanksgiving and family stuff I was busy with... Neither did I have ~$125 EA could put a hold on for an Express Delivery. So I had to wait two weeks to get my replacement guitar from them using the slower mailing option.
My replacement guitar literally died in less than one hour after I got it. I RMA'd it, but did not have $125 for EA to put a hold on this shipment either... I got the empty box pretty quick... but it has been close to - if not over - two weeks since I shipped out my faulty replacement guitar...
I have been considering returning my whole bundle when I get my 2nd replacement back... I'd hate to do it, but I hate feeling worried that my Drum Set will break if I play on it too much... so I don't really play the drums. I can't sing very well so I shy away from vocals, and I've been playing through the Expert campaign with my GH2 X-Plorer.
If I knew the only thing that would have a solid performance was going to continue being my X-Plorer, I would've just gotten the game.
Also, both Thanksgiving and X-Mas I was without a full band for RB. I was really hoping to introduce my family/relatives to Rock Band during the holidays, but that was all shot to ****.

I'm afraid my drums might break too. I usually wail on them but didn't HMX create them in that mindset? That the drums were meant to be beat and not tapped. So I am hoping that they are sturdy.

Dude, you act like you're the only person who's shipped something back. They get hundreds of calls and orders a day and because they don't look at it right away you feel abandoned? Get over it, douche.
I'm still waiting for my game to arrive and it took them 2 weeks to ship it from tennesee to nevada, should be arriving tomorrow. I may be pissed but not 'abandoned'

Well Mrs Douche, if you read the posts I put up here, You will see that it hasnt just been two weeks. I started this whole process on NOV 22nd!!!!! 2 days after the game came out. The ****ocaster is the worst peripheral to be accompanied with a game. Other than that Rock Band is an amazing game and it sucks that you can't play it. But don't bash HMX, they don't handle that stuff. It's EA. Go to their forum and whine, m'kay?

You gonna cut your wrists next? Boohooo. If anyone doesn't like being walked all over it's me, I made that arguement the other day about not enough units being on shelves. Still, why not be glad you even got the game. Sing songs, play drums, realize that you aren't the only person with issues and stop being selfish.
I got the game arriving tomorrow, I'm excited to see what doesn't work out of the box, I'll let you know so we can have something in common.

Man, all this hostility! Look, sometimes the mail takes awhile and that you just kind of have to deal with. That's why EA put that free game policy was put into effect. Get yourself a copy of Madden '08 or NCAA '08 and enjoy your wait time for Rock Band. By the way, the wait is totally worth it. It totally rocks!

You know, for someone who has allegedly been in customer service for 20 years, you're not only acting tremendously immature for your age, but you're also acting like the very customers a person in your career hate.
Not everything is about you, you know. I'm sure EA is riddled with RMAs right now, and since human beings are involved, there's bound to be mistakes. Why don't you try having some understanding, rather than flying off the handle and crying like a 13 year old over a small issue. If Rock Band is this important to you, I highly suggest analyzing what's taking priority in your life.

Inferior product, hm?
The Les Paul is wireless. Strat is not. The Strat's strum breaks easily. The Les Paul's does not. There are bumps on the strat that dig into your fingers. Les Paul does not. It may look like a toy, but it feels and works better.

Honestly, I get the fact that people are freaking out because the Stratocaster is seemingly breaking down after major use. I've been using mine about 8 hours a day since Christmas Eve, (Got it then) and I like it a lot more then GH2 and GH3's, the strumming isn't as noisy and it's a lot smoother to use rather then having to hear that annoying clicking every time you strum.
Mine is seemingly still in perfect working order and you all are saying it broke in a few hours to a week, I don't know, I'm not accusing anyone but my friend's broke because he strummed it too hard, you only have to move it a tiny bit and it'll work.
Only problems I have been having is on one Stratocaster you have to move the neck up straight up extremely fast to activate the Overdrive; on the other it is so sensitive it sometimes activates from moving it the slightest. Either way it does not make all that much of a difference.
You cannot judge a Game based on a controller that came with it for two reasons. The game itself has great gameplay for one; two is the fact that it was the one right after release, there is bound to be bugs with ANYTHING game-related that is released. If you didn't expect it then you don't know all too much about games, especially unique ideas like this one.
The drums on the other hand seem extremely stable. My sister keeps accidentally smacking the control panel and it still works at 100%.
People need to stop having these sissy fits and be ****ing patient. You can't go posting threads like "Rock Band Sucks" in a damn Technical Support forum because you are impatient and somebody over at EA made a mistake. Go outside and get some friends, jesus.

Sure, it's not the end of the world to get a bum peripheral for a game. HOWEVER, it is extremely annoying, after a spontaneous delay (I'm in Canada), to pay top dollar for an imperfect product and THEN get serious runaround from their customer "support" mechanism. All we want is to play this game the way it was intended!

Honestly, I get the fact that people are freaking out because the Stratocaster is seemingly breaking down after major use.
My guitar stopped working the day the game came out... that's what you call "heavy use"? I barely played 10 songs with it. I saw my friends drum bass pedal cracked while playing "In Bloom" on medium barefooted, and 2 days later his guitar also broke.... both of us are gamers, we know how to treat this kind of equipment, so please spare me your "You dont know how to use the controllers and thats the reason they broke".
And the argument of "Oh, this game is new and you HAVE to realize that there are going to be problems" is utterly and complete Bull! I have a Sega Master System, Atari and NES.... guess what? They all work and they were Totally new concepts when they came out. I should not expect that anything new will come with its share of problems, I should not have to buy an extended warranty AND if I do that then I expect the store or company to honor it. Here's the kicker... in my case they aren't. I live in Puerto Rico and EA decided it will not ship replacements here , even though they can ship games bought at the EA site.
So I have the right to be pissed... and I will follow your advise and go out with my friends, even though they all would rather play Rock Band at my house and we can't.

Pwnisher, I agree with you, and I agree with other people.
Saying you are in the customer service biz for 20 years, and then acting like the people you hate...that kinda sucks.
But beyond that, I agree with you that these multiple and frequent issues are inexcusable. My guitar broke. I fixed it. It broke again. I am waiting now on my replacement. Luckily, mine says it is on the way. What recourse have you taken in the last MONTH since yours hasn't been returned? You haven't said. I am surprised it has taken this long, unless you have just been sitting on your thumbs, not contacting customer service for recourse. It is clear they are dealing with a LOT of issues right now, and some will fall through the cracks. Maybe yours did, and unless you call it to their attention, and follow up, you can't keep knocking your head against the wall in frustration and not have to start pointing a finger at yourself. What have you done? What have they said?
I am also frustrated, as you are, with the product quality. My friends and I have only played three nights, and the guitar has broken twice, and the drum pedal snapped in half.
Oh and people who say they play barefooted...I have to wonder now if that isn't he problem. I would guess a shoe would create more even pressure across the pedal, whereas a bare foot can create central pressure points, which is where people are finding the splits in the cheap pedal.
My husband has made a wooden overlay for ours while we wait for our replacement pedal. My frustration with the service department is tied to that: we already have a $120 hold for the guitar we have to get replaced. Now we have a pedal, which they are also demanding a hold on. Post Christmas, we don't have a credit card with room on it to make a second $120 hold, so we couldn't do express return. I feel good customer service would demand that, knowing we are already on a hold for a faulty guitar (which I told them), they should offer to express return for no hold. I don't see what they are going to do with yet ANOTHER broken pedal anyway, and it probably costs them more to pay to return the pedal than it cost in the first place!!
So I share your frustration, just not your mode of expressing it, per se. :)

Man you guys are scaring me. I bought Rock Band & Playstation3 both for my son for Christmas and he has done nothing but play since almost. I just started playing with him day before yesterday. It is addictive. But the strummer on his guitar still works but it us sticking & really screws up a song & pisses you off. I just ordered my box to get a replacement. Sounds like they (whoever) are going to maybe have to redesign or strengthen the strummer. I know it probably takes a lot of pressure when you are really getting into the song more than you realize. At least you don't have to box the whole band up & take it back where you bought it from because if it is like around here you wouldn't be just picking up a new band because they are scarce. This gives you the oppurtunity to be multi instrumental, play the drums until you master them by that time you surely will have a new guitar.

Rock Band is an awesome game concept, but it's a shame that they made everything so crappy. From the controllers and even to the game disc itself, it's impossible not to find something wrong with the game that ruins a what would be awesome experience into a nightmare where you scream "Why did I buy this" over and over again, and not even the PS2 owners who only bought the copy of the game are safe, since apparently Pi Studios forgot how to port a game without there being enough problems that one would demand a refund, and if you bought your copy at Wal-Mart like I did, you're SoL.
How is it that my five year-old PS2 still works fine and yet a perfect disc of a brand new game still have tons of problems? If EA were to send me a video of them shoving my poorly-port version of Rock Band up their ass until it caused anal blockage and than proceeding to knock out the people who were in charge at porting the game at Pi Studios until they were unable to speak coherently, I would be satisfied with that accounting for as a "refund". The last ting a company should do when they know that they game and their controllers are faulty should do is release the game, unless they are purposely waving a flag saying "CRITICIZE THE HELL OUT OF US". I would have been happy waiting a whole year if it meant that it wasn't a poorly made, rushed, slapped-dashed, piece of crap with fourth-rate hardware.

What a baby.
Yeah your pissed that they sent you an xbox guitar instead of PS3 one, we understand that, but you don't have to go bashing HMX for it. IT's EA. And if you were smart enough, you'd actually try to go email them, or call them. I called them up and got an answer from one of the nicest guy I've ever met, and he asked for information and now I'm getting my guitar, simple as that! The hold time was long, yes, but I don't blame them, they probably get a billon ****ing calls a day. So instead of coming to these boards and bashing HMX for sending the wrong guitar to your house, why don't you do something about it? When people say quit blaming HMX, blame EA, DO IT. It's not HMX's fault, can you get through your thick skull?

buddy you need to calm the **** down. Rock Band is the greatest music game I have ever played, and HMX is a great developer, Im truely sorry your having difficulties but suck it up and stop being a whiney ***** about it, all I see anymore on these forums is "OMFG MY GUITAR BROKE...I HATE HMX!" or "ALL THE DLC SUCKS!, I HATE YOU ROCK BAND!" jesus christ, Firstly HMX has nothing to do with this hardware return problem, thats soley EA, and if you have working in Costumer Service for 20 years then you should know that.
So now that your done venting, I say you man up and deal with it, and take your rants somewhere else.

Same here, I had to tweak both Drums and Guitar a bit, but after Nightly use since launch mine are fine.
Poped open the guitar and realigned the sensor and tightened the screw's and no prob. I have a friend 93% expert and 98% on hard on Ride the Lightning (guitar not bass)
Used the nickle fix for the guitar and fixed the drum roll extremely. Is it perfect, nope If I sent it in will be it ever be perfect? No the product is not at that quality yet but my wife still gets 90% or higher playing on med/hard and an average of 83-85% on hard.
There are tweaks to improve and make them more then playable, sure we have never got 100% but we play nightly with a group of friends rocking out with no bass pedal snaps and yah we may not get that 100 % we have a fricken blast together.

That's because HMX DESIGNED them. They didn't produce them. The problems are caused by cheap materials and problems during production, which EA takes care of.

All I can say is wow...I should of done more research. First off it's new year's eve and we're looking deperately for rock band (360 since we've already got an x-plorer) so we could rock out 4 player style for our new years party...we've played it before on the 360 with 4 players on Christmas and it was nothing short of fun fun fun, so after looking at best buy, wal-mart, a bunch of gamestops, no luck, we call up target and they have one for ps3...yay we got a ps3 as well. We don't have an extra guitar though, I think a few of you know where this is going, so we head out to game crazy where an employee says, "yeah a gh3 guitar will work." So we shell out another 100 bucks for a bundle. Excited as hell we go set up in the midst of a huge party, lo and behold the ps3 at my friend's pad is not an 80g...only 2 usb ports...and do i see a hub in our box, no, do we have a hub lying around, no! Pissed off I call up a homie who hasn't arrived yet and he brings his 80g over YAY right? NOPE, :( ! Again more problems. I'm having problems getting gh3 guitar to connect, it connects as a controller for the mic:confused:...friends and family booing at me and heckling, after an hour or so of trying to fix the damn thing and count down less than 2 hrs away, we say screw it, three players only...granted it was fun but I noticed some mic lag...wow this sucks for shelling out 200 bucks and things aren't up to par, esp on a 600 dollar uber system...I go online and check out what the big deal is and I find out about gh3 controller incompatibility, no hub for those with 2 port systems, mic lag, braking peripherals, hopefully it doesn't happen to me, fingers crossed, and all this after shelling out close to 300 dollars, all on top of a new years eve scramble to find the damn pos. Talk about Murphy's law right? Now doing more research I find people not happy with customer service...I mean geez I hope customer service, when and if (that's a more likley than not "if") i need it goes as smoothly as possible. In the end my gripes are these...Mic lag=whack, No hub=kinda sucks, and if consumer decides to shell out 200 bucks on a single game and is told 3rd party peripherals will work, then forks over another 100, well then damn it the thing better work right:mad:! Now I'm looking for a 3rd party guitar that'll work on RB for a PS3, but still kinda sketchy shelling out more dough, can someone help out on that one? Thanks. Thinking about returning it all and waiting for a 360 version to hit the shelves in my locale. I say it should all be the same on any platform you get it on! I mean WTF, I'm not gonna get a 360 (The 360 isn't mine btw, it's a roomies) just because RB is more compatible with 3rd party periphs on that system, geez! Some advice on that please, thank you. The game is fun...it sucks having to be gentle with and hoping that my peripherals don't break if we do keep it, I mean how can you have a rock band without rocking hard right?!? Might as well get my old band together and rock out for real, for the price I paid! (I hope people sensed the sarcasm in that last remark:rolleyes:) All of this equals one unhappy consumer, actually 4...I wouldn't go as far as saying Rock band sucks but damn, quite an interesting new years eve right?!?

There is NO third party guitar that will work with the PS3 Rock Band. Sorry!
And I relate to your issues. It is amazing what we have gone through, and luckily we are a tech-savvy couple. Because we had a vague idea of what to do and where to go and how to fix things. But for people who just wanted to play the game out of the box and don't have the mad tech skillz we possess...I feel awful for them! Think of the disappointed Moms and Dads and kids who have never been to a forum like this and are throwing up their hands wondering what theya re doing wrong!! :(
The additional guitars are listing to go on sale February 4th. I wonder if that will be delayed thanks to all the RMA'd guitars...
