So the other night, in a fit of eBay madness, my wife and I bought Rock Band for the Wii. I say that it was a fit of madness due to the fact that we REALLY wanted to be buying Rock Band 2, but did not notice it was the first edition that we had just placed a winning bid on.
Duh.
Now, this will be alright, as we do not have either version, nor do we have any of the instruments. But what I am really hoping to hear now is that all we will need to do from here is just buy Rock Band 2, the game only. Is this correct? The instruments will work for both, right? Or am I now going to have to buy the bundle again to be able to play RB2?
Thanks!

Thank you! You also are very cool. :)
Never thought I would be excited to get this game...but I am chomping at the bit for it to show up.

You're making me blush...
Welcome to the family! I find that almost everybody here is very receptive to all types of questions and concerns so check the forums frequently if you run into any problems, or want to find people with whom to play.

Thanks very much!
Looking over the song lists now...I see soooo many I think I need. If my suspicions are correct though, I need to upgrade to RB2 to download them. That looks to being something I will have to do, no matter what.
"Find people to play with"...as in online? Does the Wii allow for that? I thought that was one of the main complaints? I need to read more on what I will be able to do and won't be able to do.

Quite correct. There is no dowmload for RB1 on the Wii but it's all there for RB2. You'll love it. Over here we'v e got so much DLC that it dwarfs the on disc setlist.
Online play is available in RB 2 for the Wii. You can only play other Wii players but there are many who do like the online band thing. It is fun.

Rock Band 1 doesn't, Rock Band 2 does. Rock Band 1 is a port of the heavily watered-down PlayStation 2 version. All the graphics are replaced with prerendered video, so you can't create characters, and the band world tour mode is just playing all the songs in order instead of the more open-ended mode on the other consoles.
Rock Band 2 fared much better. You can only use SD cards up to 2 GB (that's all the Wii's firmware could handle at the time), which are a far cry from the 360's 120GB hard drives, and you can't import songs from other Rock Band games, but other than that (and a few other minor things), Rock Band 2 on the Wii is pretty much the same as on the bigger systems.

Thanks! Looks like I will be buying the RB2 disc this weekend then! LOL!
2GB does kind of suck...is it pretty much standard MP3 size, or are the files larger to handle the game info? Though, 2GB should get me...what...200 songs +/-?

Nope, about 70 songs

I can fit anywhere from 90-95 songs per 2GB card.
I bought the RB1 bundle when it was on sale and got the RB2 game disc only as well. You might want to consider either getting a GH guitar or an RB2 guitar. The fret buttons on the RB1 guitar are pretty clicky and loud. Of course, the strum bar on the GH guitar is also loud. And the GH guitar won't work with RB1 only RB2 and later.
