360 Guitar on PS3?

Can you hook a 360 Guitar up on PS3? I mean it's just usb or does the 360 one have special encoding to make it not work on the PS3?

Unfortunately 360 guitars and drums are not compatible with the PS3, and vice versa. The mics are universal, however.

Does anyone find it odd that the guitar shown in the RockBand Store for the guitar decals shows a wireless guitar with an XBox button set ?

personally i think it is stupid to make two different guitars. all the instruments should be universal so i can bring my guitar over to my friends house and play on his 360 even though i have a ps3. and its not like they have completely different buttons.

It is stupid, but I believe controllers require a proprietary arcitecture to work on different company's systems. That's why you can'y buy a 3rd party wireless controller that works on both the PS3 and 360.

Atleast the PS3 guitar works on the PS2 and vice versa. *shrug*

They've always planned on releasing wireless XBox360 guitars, but I believe that we won't see them until Jan/Feb.
