View Full Version : Let's Try this Christian Rock songlist again...

This time though. i'm thinking we keep it with the music.
Totally thinking practically with what songs (by Christian artists) would be fun to play in the game rock band (i.e. Good guitar rhythm, a interesting bass part, sweet drumming, and singable vocals... Red, though a good band, is not one to try and tackle by your average Karaoke fan)
i suggest:
Hand Grenade – Thousand Foot Krutch (great all around parts for each instrument)
or
Move - Thousand Foot Krutch
Never Take Friendship Personal – Anberlin (awesome bass and guitar, bass plays the off-beats would be a good change)
Love Found Me – DecembeRadio (cool, classic feel)
What We’re Here For – Everyday Sunday (great drum opening/rest of song, solid singing melody)
Suspension – Mae (great melody in guitar and singing. Also possibly a good change from all the heavy stuff, to give a solid ‘feel good’ tune; a good plus with this song: it doesn’t take a professional singer to sing along but you still need that ear for pitch)
We’ve only just begun – Run Kid Run (energetic song, great melodies, solid drumming)
Whispers in the Dark – Skillet (good singing, powerful guitar melody, a crazy solo, a song that would be amazing for a guitar career, and don’t forget solid drums and bass rhythm)
and a couple of Non-Christian Artists:
Futures – Jimmy Eat World
A Town Called Hypocrisy – Lostprophets (Fun Guitar rhythm accompanied by a awesome bass follow, definitely a must to consider)
--I have listened to, and listed these tracks purely thinking it would be good additions to the already great line up.
and to all the haters of christian rock, i invite you to download these tracks, listen to them and think. Just because a band is labeled as christian, does that mean every song is about God, it's not. Listen to Anberlin, hardly any of their songs mention God, 3 albums later, but it's about the music... it always has been, it's just who they ultimately play their songs for. btw MXPX is christian, and so is Relient K.
Also, if you hadn't been previously told that they're christian artists, would you have picked them out as such? if you were playing the game to these sweet tunes, would you be studying them to say... these bands are christian, or would you more be worried about nailing the sweet solo in "Whispers in the Dark"?
and to anyone from harmonix who may read this:
i recommend you to consider this list, and also the addition of artists who consider themselves Christian, because it's not just about the gameplay or the graphics, it's about (and Guitar Hero has set this standard) introducing new kinds of music to people who wouldn't walk down that specific aisle in the music store, or turn on the radio to a certain station. By putting out these games a new generation of gamers can learn about and appreciate new styles of music, and still play a Kick A$$ game.

ok..........
im sure some of these songs have great instrumentals. havent heard any of it but i won't deny there are some cool solos and what not.
BUT
few people are going to want Christian rock, most people already know what it is and don't really care for combining religion and music. This would do little towards introducing new people to it....and can you honestly say any of these bands ARENT geared towards religion and god? I mean come on....theyre labeled so for a reason
ALSO
Guitar hero was called out by religious groups several times for includng songs with satanic references, sex, drugs etc. whatever it may be. RB will prob be no different with its song including several standard rock themes that are also frowned upon by many religious people. Out of principle, few of these artists would even consider it.
Sometimes certain genres just dont fit into certain music games. Chrisian rock is most definetly one of them. Kind of like how some metal will automatically be discounted due to screaming lyrics etc. Some thigns just wouldnt work!!!

"Mother
Tell your children not to walk my way
Tell your children not to hear my words
What they mean
What they say
Mother
Mother
Can you keep them in the dark for life
Can you hide them from the waiting world
Oh mother
Father
Gonna take you daughter out tonight
Gonna show her my world
Oh father
Not about to see your light
But if you wanna find hell with me
I can show you what its like
Till your bleeding
Not about to see your light
And if you wanna find hell with me
I can show you what its
Mother
Tell your children not to hold my hand
Tell your children not to undesrstand
Oh mother
Father
Do you wanna bang heads with me
Do you wanna feel evrything
Oh father
Not about to see your light
And if you wanna find hell with me
I can show you what its like

that is because, they want the majority to buy their music...christians are the minority...yes 60 percent of the world say they are christians but they dont actually follow god...that probably have a christian backround...

ok. i have a wonderful solution to all this hype about christian music in Rock band... don't put it on the original disc.
in another thread someone said to the effect that theyre gonna want to put music on the disc that everyone and they're mother knows, so let them do that.
Christian Rock would make for geat downloadable content, post release. i know that i would gladly purchase bundled songs of said "genre" (ill just say genre for all you to understand my point).

We seem to be having the same discussion about metal in another post.
it is so hard to open peoples minds to new ideas. i would have no problem listening to metal on this game. My biggest thought with metal is that it's very difficult to scream the way some of these bands do. now i wouldn't consider myself a huge fan of metal in any respect. Killswitch Engage is good. I think Howard is a great singer (when he sings), but stuff like A Life Once Lost, though the Drumming(especially), Guitar and Bass are spectacular!, the vocals would be almost impossible for your average gamer/singer.
To whom it may concern: "Closed minded people are tools" ;)

I'm not that into having screaming vocals in the game either. I do also love Killswitch Engage, but I want some stuff that people probably have not even heard of. Blind Guardian and Rhapsody, Kamelot, Helloween, Nightwish, etc.
No screaming, theres actually extremely good singing, as well as amazing drums, and guitar. (bass is pretty lame no matter what genre.. maybe jazz)

I have a few things to say about your post mr :{O
1.You honestly dare EXCLUDE the almost and underoath? I should kick your ass! lol
2.I am a catholic and I personally don't care what a bands religion is as long as they aren't evil , or writing blasphemous music.
3.The rest of you who said no and facepalm and stuff... you guys are stupid... I mean if you actually listened to the bands he listed they aren't preachy at all , they are regular bands who just happen to consist of 100% christians

First of all I'm all for including songs that would be fun to play as a band. Remember kiddies, this is rock BAND. Now I work directly with someone who listens to nothing but Christian music all day long (rock or otherwise) and I must say that besides the obvious preachy nature these bands have, the music is quite forgettable and in no way would be fun to play on this game. Sorry, but because the "message" within the lyrics of most of these bands is first and foremost, the music itself suffers because of it and in turn becomes watered down boring diatribes with the musically importance of elevator muzak.

dude, wth? he(she? I'll just use he...) was just posting stuff he thinks would be good in the game. "not everone wants all punk music in the band" what are you talking about? "in the band"? haha just because he didn't post music genres YOU want in the game doesn't mean he only cares for the stuff he posted; he simply chose to just post those. Maybe he listens to them the most and knows them better, therefore thought of them first when it came time to posting here. Calm down with your "what kind of list is that". Yeah, I've heard plenty of it, and it's pretty forgettable. It's like their a crappy-mediocre band, so they add christianity, and become popular. I remember an episode of south park like that.

have you listened to Anberlin, Skillet, Run Kid Run, Everyday Sunday, MXPX, Five Iron Frenzy, OC Supertones, Roper, RED, or Thousand Foot Krutch?
... didn't think so.
but in some respects you're right, SOME songs centered around the message and prayer suffer in the music department, but most songs by Christian bands aren't prayer songs

I'd say Christian music is pretty blasphemous to any other religion that believes theirs is the only God. Nobody wants to sing praises to another god. What do you say about that? They should just put christian music in anyways and screw any other denomination, right?

How bout Cheat On The Church! A prime example. Religion types totally based their "review" on this song from GH. Saying it was unacceptable to have such a song with a title like this. Indicating that they thought someone gave a ****.

Ok I will agree with you people that think that christian music is preachy. Some of it is, and I don't personally want those songs in the game. But some of the songs are just great songs. Do any of you like P.O.D.? They happen to be a Christian band with very good music. And plus their stuff isn't preachy, most people don't even realize they are christian. Also some christian songs I don't like just because I don't enjoy the music. For instance, i'm not a huge fan of Underoath. Some people are. That is the same way with all you people who hate us for wanting christian music, we don't harp on you guys for wanting your music. So please don't freak out on us for wanting our personal taste in music. And if for some reason harmonix decides to allow us to play this music in their game, then if you don't want it don't download it. As for the people who do freak out on secular bands, they just need to chill especially since some of them are just complete idiots and are very hypocritical.

How about some classic Tourniquet? They would be awesome.
Some Bride would be good too. Say, some songs from the "Rattlesnakes In The Playground" album.

people do not need to jump to conclusions when we mention christian music. just because we want our music doesn't mean that people who don't like our music have to come and be like idiots and criticize christian music when most to all of them haven't even heard of the songs that we r tlking abt. us Christians don't go into their threads and jus disagree with their music jus because we don't think the majority won't like it. christian rock is not like the gospel stuff that u hear at a church, most of the songs mentioned i think hardly mention Jesus or God in the lyrics, but the members r christian. plus, there is already 3 christian bands on the game, Flyleaf, Kutless, and Underoath. so why not just hv some more christian rock (if u wnt to, don't even label it as christian rock just call it rock) as DLC (not in the game setlist, DLC). i don't really like the preachy stuff, but Skillet, Pillar, Switchfoot, and much more would b good for the game.

^You missed The Myriad.
4.
Plus, Mute Math is a band made of Christians.
So that kinda makes 5.
If we get Christian music, can it not be crap like TFK?
Seriously.
More Underoath, some House of Heroes, Blindside, The Devil Wears Prada, Project 86, As Cities Burn, or mewithoutYou would be great.

I would also like to see some of the song preformed by the genre called christian and gospel. But putting it into catergories other than music affends people. I bet we they could put some of the songs on a track pack and most people wouldn't even think christian.
Uh...dead thread is dead.
