Is the DLC just going to continue to suck? I was looking forward to it, but now after seeing it all, it seems they just pick the worst songs. I bought a few but just to have some new ones. Why not listen to the people. There's no way majority won on those songs. Sorry for the ranting, I just want some decent songs, there's so many great bands, and I don't even expect the stuff I really like or listen to, just something better than this.

Wah Wah Wah.......if you took a poll i bet most ppl would say the DLC has been great....maybe you should go to the GH3 forums and praise thier DLC LOL!!!!
I personally LOVE the DLC on Rockband!!! :) Great variety imo.

"The People"? The People are eating up DLC left and right. There's been a wide variety of genres already covered, classic singles along with lesser-known tracks.
If your concept of "good music" is so narrow that you can't find a few suitable DLC tracks, you've got some self-reflection to do.

I love the Rock Band DLC so far (most of it), and especially what's coming up (Who's Next).
What I don't get is how IGN awarded GH 3 "Best Downloadable Content"? That stuff sucks.

Umm suck ? Please tell me what would you like to see as DLC.

Let's see, over the course of 6 weeks, we've had a straightforward "classic rock" anthem, Thrash Metal, Old School Metal, New Wave, Punk, Power Pop, Alternative Rock, Hard Rock, Glam Rock, and that's just the broad strokes of what this game is covering in terms of it's DLC. That's a lot of ground for a month and a half.
Give it time. They'll get to an awful lot of stuff by this time next year. (Understatement). If there's still nothing you like by then... well, frankly, I wouldn't know what to tell you.

the DLC, imho, certainly does NOT suck; the songs of course are subject to opinion, but if you think 'all the dlc thus far sux' then i'ld have to agree with someone else's comment: ya picked the wrong game.

Maybe you forgot to read the comment before replying, since I said I didn't expect DLC to even be any of the stuff I listened to, just better. So it has nothing to do with my "narrow" scope of good music. It was only my opinion and no one I know personally that got the game or the 30 people that have played it with me have been happy about the DLC and their music taste range through every possible type.
The DLC on Rock Band is great so far. The only problem is that Harmonix needs to continue to make good DLC threw out the year. Which probably isnt going to happen knowing Harmonix tend to forget DLC n work on more games. Harmonix, we dont need a Rock Band sequel. Just Online BWT n more DLC. Sum roses or Linkin Park would be nice.

Actually, I didn't pick the wrong game because I've had more fun with this then probably any game before. And I happen to love alot of songs on the game and have played it for days worth of hours. Sorry though for having an opinion on the DLC, I guess I better just d/l it all and give up on a personal taste in music.

It's rather amazing that the "30 people" you play with who avid listen to every genre of music every created ALL think ALL of the DLC is poor, yet every person who has replied to this topic is happy with it.
You should write a book about this miraculous event.

I think the only problem with the DLC is that it should be expanded. I want QOTSA and Black Sabbath albums. But the packs are killer. I've also downloaded Joker and the Thief, Fortunate Son and I Fought the Law. The
DLC gets more play on mine than the regular songs.

The current situation is totally different than what happened with GH2. Harmonix isn't going to stop making DLC for Rock Band any time soon.

1 question, are you ******ed? People wanted Metallica, and we have Metallica, people want Queens of the Stonage, and we have it. you say they aren't listening to the people, well I beg to differ, they're listening to what the people want more then anyone else, because if they dont it's there loss.

In fear that the minority of whiners will cause HMX to change their strategy (doubtful hopefully) let me add my voice to the many many of us that have been VERY pleased with the DLC so far. Quantity, quality, it's all good. Do I love every single song? Of course not, and I don't expect HMX to make a custom video game for me.
I think they've done a great job of mixing genres, along with songs that people know. Honestly this is a social game, and I have many many friends over to play and they obv want to play songs they heard. And frankly that's often songs from the 90's 00's, although I personally love the older songs as well.
Also you have the realize that HMX is obviously trying to plug songs into various play categories (i.e. songs that would be good for girl voice kareoke, or great drum songs).
If I had my personal preference I wish HMX would pick only songs at the very top of the charts from the various decades, very popular fun band songs. However I understand that would not float many peoples boat.
As a side note some of the songs I'd never heard of before RB are now in my top favorites, especially Flyleaf and Coheed and Cambria

Hey White Star, I love the DLC, but since you're online now and probably looking at this thread, I'll chime in that I'd be ecstatic if some Modest Mouse joined the game.
They aren't even my favorite band or anything, but they're songs are structured in such a way that I feel they'd be PERFECT for Rock Band. Plus they're new stuff is quite "popular" and a three-pack of Float On, Dashboard and Paper Thin Walls I'd expect to be an extremely high seller.

I remember reading an interview with someone from Harmonix who talked about how this game could change the way people experience music, and I completely agree. For this reason, I'd love to experience the entire "Dark Side of the Moon" album. It's an amazing experience just listening to it -- I can't imagine what a trip it would be to be able to play along with it. I know it's a long shot, but I can still hope. You might have to have people sign a waiver before singing "The Great Gig In The Sky", just in case they blow their voice box out! :p

The DLC hasnt "sucked" once since release. Sure there are a few released songs that I dont like so I didnt buy them. I didnt whine about it. You cant please everyone.
Im sure if an AC/DC pack was released (A suggestion on these boards by a ton of members) there would people whining about that saying AC/DC sucks.

I would certainly fall under the sinking boat category. Pop music is well and good (though not generally my taste) but this would absolutely kill entire genres of music, eg. prog rock, concept albums, alternative music pre-1990.
It would be disturbing to me to have to play Schlock Band.
I'm curious to what kind of songs/bands are you looking for? I hope we'll have something for you in the future.
70's early 80's
Allman Bros, Skynyrd, Outlaws, Marshall Tucker Band, Johnny/Edgar Winter
Foreigner (Hot Blooded), Bad Company, ZZ Top (Sharp Dress Man), Who, Stones
Skip the 80's heavy metal then go to the 90+ grunge:
Peal Jam, Nirvana, Live, etc............
Not to suck up, but this game (RB) is flat out awesome!!!

You have yet to mention what kind of music you listen to, and what artist
I also think that it's odd that the OP has yet to say what type of music should be included.
Although the DLC has not included my faves (The Stones, Zep, SRV, Hendrix, Heart, Pearl Jam) yet, I still think it has been great.
The Metallica, Police, and Black Sabbath packs are sweet, as are the CCR, Pretenders, and Clash songs.
And although I do not like his music, David Bowie is a renowned musician. Even the Queens of the Stone Age (I saw them open for the Stones!) have a large following.
I think anyone who respects quality music, regardless of personal favorites, would have a hard time saying all this musics is weak.

I've got 13 of 27 songs available from the PlayStation Store. For me, the DLC is working out exactly the way I wanted it to: some stuff I want, some stuff I REALLY want, and some stuff you couldn't pay me to take.
Way I figure it, those other 14 songs are probably making other players happy, so I'm glad they're there, even if I'll never get them.

...
Well, in other threads, the OP has expressed displeasure with The Ramones, and MCR, and professed his love for Tool. But I see no threads started by the OP in the Setlist forum suggesting any music... so he/she only has himself/herself to blame.

Wow...the only DLC that I haven't liked is everything last week except for that half-decent "The Sounds" band, and Cherry Bomb.
Overall I am way more impressed than I ever imagined I could be with the DLC.
I think the OP probably just has a very narrow taste in "music"

If not a narrow scope, you have an elitist filter on. The variety of songs released on DLC thus far have been pretty wide, spanning from different types of genres and such. If you can't acknowledge at least a few of those songs to be good, then you have poor musical knowledge.
I do not like Bowie, but I respect him and what he's done. I won't download his DLC but I'm glad it's up there. I know people out there love Moonage Daydream or <insert title here> and now they can play it. People being happy is good.
I don't understand how you can say it all sucks. My musical taste ranges from A to Z, and I think the DLC is great so far. And can only get better from here. You and your 30 friends must all be in some secret anti-music club or some nonsensical society like that. :)

If HMX keeps to their weekly release of multiple songs, and hopefully sales have been successful enough to warrant that, we're looking at 200-300 songs by this time next year. If there aren't a handful of songs in those 200 that you like, then you seriously need to expand your musical tastes. Just in this initial spurt of DLC, every genre has been covered, and there's no reason to think that HMX won't continue to do the same throughout the life of Rock Band.

Is it the songs that are the problem and not the bands? I could understand that. I'd like different Sabbath,Metallica and Bowie songs. I like all 3 but Heroes is the only thing I've bought out of those packs. I have bought 6 songs overall so I guess it's pretty good but I'd like more CCR and Clash as well.

Solution: Don't buy it.
Additional Solution: Take your favorite fake plastic instrument to a street corner and play your favorite songs and peddle for money.
Additional Solution 3: Make recommendations on this board, and maybe it will happen. It's not like licensing music, requires any kind of licensing, or money, or rights management or anything.

Yeah, the song choices even in the release baffled me... Why in the world did they choose "Train Kept A Rollin'" as the lone Aerosmith song ? And "The Hand That Feeds" ? There are much better NIN songs. "Dani California" from RHCP ?
Many artists that were chosen were perfect, but the songs themselves could have been chosen better ;)

I can understand really disliking some of it, but it's really a nice spread across multiple genres and there's more to come. We've loved most of it and have d/l about half of it to this point. We've discovered some songs that we weren't as familiar with that we're really enjoying playing in the game. Combine the fact that we've had new content weekly with what's been included and we are very happy campers.
Ramones and the Runaways? I loved seeing those show up (though the master track for Cherry Bomb would have been sweet).

I'm not sure I follow this... You love a lot of songs on the game but dislike the DLC? Since the DLC offering is a lot of songs from bands already in the game and from bands not in the game but carrying the same flavor as the game, I don't see how this can be.
In any event, we're quite pleased with the DLC here, as evidenced by our purchasing 20+ songs already. :)

Your argument had a ton of credibility until that last statement. Did you ever think that there are people with WIDE taste in music that actually wanted Metallica, Rush, Black Sabbath, AND 30 seconds to Mars & Fall Out Boy.
I know for a fact that there were well more than enough people who wanted Fall Out Boy in the game (maybe a better song by them, but still ...). SO thanks Harmonix for bringing a WIDE vareity of music into Rock Band and providing us with quality DLC that spans over many genres. Im glad to say that I have bought 26 songs (and love them) and will continue to buy & Play them until you guys run out of ideas.
