View Full Version : PS3 - Save Data Lost, but can we rebuild the band?

We recently had a PS3 begin to malfunction, so we used the backup utility to back up our data to an external hard drive. Unfortunately, a subsequent system restore attempt deleted all of our data on the old PS3, so we're unable to MOVE data to the new PS3.
So we've accepted the bitter loss of some of our save games, such as the one for RB2, but I've read that it's not possible to recreate existing bands due to conflicts with the RB2 central servers.
Is it possible to relink our PSN/RB2 accounts so that we can recreate a band with the same band/character names as before?

What you'll have to do is restore the backup to the old PS3, then do a transfer.
If you can't do that, then the name's gone.

If the save data didn't copy during the backup, we can't restore it to the old PS3 though, correct?

Backups will allow protected data to be restored to the same system, but not to another system. So it's possible they did copy over.

Yes, Bront20 -- you are exactly right!
We tried restoring the backup data to the old system (HDD works fine, BD drive is shot) and the saves restored! Then we were able to transfer the data from one system to another.
So hurray! Our world class platinum-selling band is back in action! ;)
Thanks for your help!
