I like valient thorr. Just saying.

But I think my chemical romance has amazing instrumentalists, but their singers voice ruins it all for me.

Queens of the Stone Age- Josh is a strong vocalist and amazing guitarist, Troy is a versatile musician and never has a bad day, and Joey is a brutal drummer he destroys his kit and still keeps time well.

Elliott Smith- Just an amazing Singer/Song writer. Great lyrics ("It don't matter cause I have no sex life/And all I wanna do now is inject my ex-wife, beautiful voice, creative riffs")see here for example (http://www.cutthechord.com/Elliott_Smith-Kings_Crossing_performed_in_1999.mp3)

Trent Reznor/NIN- Great songwriter, is kind of hit or miss when it comes to lyrics, but when he's on, he is amazing (see "And All that Could Have Been") and a down right amazing producer.

Saul Williams- I have been a fan since I saw him open for NIN. Quite possibly the best lyricist around today.

Pagoda- Nothing too special, but a solid "grunge" band (for lack of a better term), I am just impressed by the fact that they use cello as a main instrument (and a 14 yo played it on the album).

Frank Zappa- Amazing guitarist

Red Hot Chili Peppers- Not great song writers and Keidis's voice is kinda lame, but flea is a great bassist, chad can drum well, and frusciante is one of my favorite guitarists.

Thats it for now...

System of a down, Serj is a great vocalist and an all around great musician.Daron is a great guitarist and song writer however, he needs to not sing.Shavo, a great bassist.John, one of the greatest drummers. As a whole they have a uniqe sound and great talent. They are always changing thier style so they never get stale.

for pure musicianship, Cream is tough to top. The musical abilities of each memeber (Jack Bruce, Ginger Baker, Eric Clapton) really made them special

Maroon 5
The Killers
Klaxons
Pagoda

There are the only good rock bands of the 2000s (not including metal cause I don't really listen to it, someone else will have to list the good metal bands)
everything else, emo dance pop punk crap garbage ilk, sucks.

This list only includes bands that came out in the 2000s, if I included bands that came put before this and are still around, I could go on.

Iron Maiden has a way of making you want to do what they are singing about, and the funny thing is that you wouldn't even need the words. I listen to them when I run sometimes because they literally help me run faster.

sparta174, you are an arrogant ****. I didn't like the majority of his picks either, but I wasn't going to attack him. You on the other hand, you I am gonna flame to pieces.

"coheed and cambria": Really? Abysmal lyrics from yet another wanna be Led Zep band. Shut up and try again.

"avenged sevenfold": Again, really? They are a generic wanna be "metal" band. And "M. Shadows" are you kidding? Oh, and their blatant allusions to the bible in an attempt to look deep just make them an even bigger joke to me. Not because they are Christians, but because the way the handle it is laughable... Ever heard of a thing called subtlety?

"muse": Not a huge fan, but I'll give you this one.

"thrice": Ok, I usually don't say this in the mildly formal setting of a forum but "lol". This band is nothing but laughable they are the epitome of MTV rock. Oh, and what the hell is their song "A living dance upon dead minds" or whatever it's called. I could write lyrics too if writing meant copying an e. e. cummings poem word for word.

Finally,
"the fall of troy"; They are just lame, boring mathcore. I would take Dilinger Escape Plan over them any day, and I don't really like DEP

So, either get better taste in music, or don't be such and pain in the ass.

It'd be far easier to make a list of bands without talent.

Ween- Dean and Gene have been rocking for years. They have covered every genre from Soul to Metal, From Rock to Funk. Never heard of Ween?http://www.weenradio.com/
Best radio spot on the internets

Moist Boyz- Deaner from Ween with Guy Heller fronting the band. Some find it extremely offensive, I find it unapologetic. If you want to hear hard core Metal/Punk that pulls no punches check em out.

Queens of the Stone Age- Josh Homme just has it all around. He writes fantastic music. I also like Queens with Mark Lanegan, great vocalist. Nick Oliveri on Bass was the peak.

The Flaming Lips- The brilliance of Wayne Coyne.

Blind Melon- Soup is one of the greatest albums of all time. They only put out three real albums and Shannon Hoon's vocals were just incredible.

Yes, but it would take forever to read those lists.

I agree with Muse, just listen to Knights of Cydonia, the opening riff changes keys like 4 times and they still manage to make it work, as far as songwriting ability they are one of the best newer bands.

Queen
Dream Theater
Porcupine Tree
The Decemberists
The Mars Volta

Too many classic bands to list, but I agree with almost everyone else, except the guy that said Coheed and Cambria.
