I'm currently working my way through the 80's edition and will post my review as a progress.
So far the songs are fairly decent and its exciting to be playing alot of these tracks. I'm working on medium first to unlock all the set list first. After that I'll probably hit Expert.
I started off with expert (Flock Of Seagulls) and completely smashed on it! My turn. Be back.
As most of you should know and expect its a GH game. There are some difficult passages and such, but nothing that is going to make you pull your hair out like in GH or GHII.
The song selection is fairly decent and covered about the same. With no extra songs or new guitars or finishes, the game lacks in that area. I was disappointed to see the same guitars and skins in the store and only one extra character.
A Price of 49.99 is a little too much, but if you're a GH fan like myself (which you probably are), then its a must to add to your collection!
Final rating 3.5 out of 5.
Any questions?

I agree it's got a lot of really fun songs and some crazy solos... although a lot of the songs early on are really short, they're all under 200k score wise

Yeah, but there are a lot of really long ones too. I was really disappointed in Wrathchild. It's a total wank. Police Truck is awesome though. These games could really use some straight up old ass punk.

So decent expansion or mediocore cash-in?

Ultimately, a bit of both. Extra songs never hurt anybody, though.

Favorite songs, everyone? I'd say mine are Los Angeles, Police Truck, Seventeen, Synchronicity II, and Only A Lad.

I'd have to say Turning Japanese, Electric Eye, Police Truck, Caught In A Mosh, Play With Me, Bathroom Wall.
The only song I hate is What I Like About You, that's absolute trash. The rest are meh.

Its a Decent Game But The Lack of New Character Venues and Bonus Songs Just Doesnt Seem good Enough To Buy for 49.99

Police Truck, Play With Me, Synchronicity II, and Turning Japanese.
They're the most fun to me. But my rock side always loves to belt out the hair metal stuff :D
