View Full Version : A Travesty! -or- Where's Mars Volta, and the Decemberists? (Guilty Pleasure: Panic!)

The gang and I have been playing the crap out of Rock Band and we have realized a few additions that would only make the game better:
Mars Volta: Pretty much anything from deloused would make for an extremely fun song with a hard difficulty. My personal vote would be for "Son Et Lumiere"/"Intertiatic ESP." (I always counted them as one song myself and it would work perfectly for rock band. The vocals alone would be the funnest thing ever.)
PS: Frances The Mute would be good but Deloused would probably be much better Rock Band fare.
Decemberists: The Tain might be a little long but if it could be made to work with all instruments it would be a pretty awesome song. It wouldn't necessarily be that hard but I'm sure a lot of people would appreciate it. (Maybe I'm overestimating the Decemberist's fanbase) Also, The Mariner's Revenge Song or The Island would be other great songs if The Tain wouldn't work.
And finally, the guilty pleasure, Panic! at the Disco: Uhm. They are awesome and would be fun all around. Pretty much any song of theirs would work and be awesome.
In Summary:
Mars Volta - Son Et Lumiere/Intertiatic ESP
Mars Volta - Take the Veil Cerpin Taxt
Decemberists - The Tain
Decemberists - Mariner's Revenge Song
Decemberists - The Island
Panic! at the Disco - The Only Difference Between Martyrdom and Suicide is Press Coverage
Panic! at the Disco - Build God, then we'll talk
(Actually, anything from any of these bands)
Pretty much any of these will be awesome and will for sure be bought at any price at least once by us.

I love The Mars Volta, but the concept of any of their songs being in Rock Band is mindblowing. If you strip down the guitar effects, are the guitars really complex enough?

I seriously LOVE the Decemberists but I just don't see their colonial-esque, folk style ending up on Rock Band.. (I mean who's going to play the accordion?!) ...
But if they did put up some of their best songs.. I'll definitely buy them.. twice if possible :o

Well, beastie boys doesn't exactly have a guitar or bass (I think you actually play the record scratches on the guitar at one point) but sabotage is still on there. An accordion doesn't seem toooooo far fetched.
Yes, I love the Decemberists. July July would work fine, as would The Bachelor & the Bride. I'd LOVE the Tain and the Island, but I doubt a 20-minute song would be appreciated much. :)

The Decemberists in Rock Band would be, simply, the greatest thing ever. I just can't think of that many of their songs that would work. I think that The Perfect Crime #2 would work pretty well. It's one of their rock-ier songs. Their only piece of work that I really hate is The Tain, to be honest. Everything else is amazing. Mars Volta and P!ATD would be awesome as well. We could've used some P!ATD on Christmas instead of 30 Seconds to Mars. If you're going to put in some modern mainstream stuff, at least make it good!

If we're going to go Decemberists, then I'd think 16 Military Wives would fit GREAT into Rock Band. Excellent drum part too. :)

I'm very surprised to see P! in the same post as The Mars Volta that isn't saying one is better than the other.

... Have you ever even listened to The Mars Volta?

You're kidding, right?
Omar Rodriguez-Lopez is one of the best guitarist in the past 20 years, you just don't hear about him that often because millions of stupid Americans masturbate over ****ty band/guitarists because they think listening to mainstream music is cool. (No, I'm not British, I'm American too.)
I'd like to see Casandra Gemini just so I'd get carpal tunnel from playing a 30 minute long song. Inertiatic ESP, Eriatarka, Cicatriz (parts 1-4, LOL), L'Via L'Viaquez, Day of the Baphomets, song from TBIG, etc...

panic! at the disco pisses me off since they're touring with motion city soundtrack, with motion city being direct support.

They'd all be great, though I think 16 Military Wives would get boring. Now California one would be amazing. Don't forget The Island, that's good **** too. I wonder how many other people know Apology Song... good ****.

Wait, you're pissed because they are bringing MCS down or the other way around. I despise Panic! but MCS is one of my favorite bands. Since when are they touring together? That really brings MCS down quite a few levels.

The only song by the Decemberists I know is 16 Military Wives, and I don't know how well that would work with Rock Band. I'd buy it if it did come out, though.
And I'm a big fan of Panic! so anything by them would be just great for me.

I'd love to see some Mars Volta. Excellent guitar and drums...
Son Et Lumiere/Inertiatic ESP
Cygnus, Vismund Cygnus
Take the Veil Cerpin Taxt
Cassandra Gemini
Viscera Eyes
...but I doubt it will ever happen. Half the lyrics are in Spanish. Most people wouldn't even be able to sing the lyrics and they wouldn't find it fun. They would just sing nonsense and match the pitch. And that defeats the purpose of the game. Don't get me wrong. I would happily pay every cent for some TMV DLC. I just don't think there will be any and I'd understand why.
