What movie you think had the saddest ending?
For me, it was The Green Mile.
Also, this thread MIGHT contain spoilers, so please, for others, put the following in your post...

MIGHT contain spoilers? If this topic is about endings to movies, I'm pretty sure every post will have
*SPOILERS!* (Specifically Shutter Island!)
Citizen Kane. I was so sad when that movie ended. That movie is AWESOME!
Also, Shutter Island was pretty sad and ****ed up. When you find out his wife killed his kids so he killed her and he's been living in a fantasy world for two years, that was pretty heart breaking.

When tony got shot in the back, end of a powerful and admirable empire

*SPOILERS!* (SCARFACE!)
That's not really a sad ending. It's more of a "You're getting what you deserve" ending. That dude was a major *******. Sure, I didn't expect anybody to be nice to one another in that film but, he was a total paranoid and killed his sister's love for nothing. I still liked the movie though.

*SPOILERS* Monsters Inc.
At the end when Sully opens the door and you hear the girl say "Kitty!" It's just the saddest thing in the world knowing that little girl is about to get eaten by a monster.

Oh yea...that's a good one. I'm 37 and that still puts a lump in my throat. Guess having two little girls of my own adds to the emotion of that moment.

I thought it was hilarious myself, but that tells you more about my sense of humor than the movie, I guess (I felt the same way about the ending of Se7en).
Requiem for a Dream has a genuinely sad and depressing ending, though.

Saving Private Ryan makes me weep. I also thought the end of The Hurt Locker was pretty depressing, not sad, and it didn't make me cry, but it just felt kind of depressing.

Saving Private Ryan for sure.
Best war movie ever made, and to this day, remains my favorite all time movie.

but its so beautifully shot that takes some of the sadness away (plus you get her burying the flower after so its not technically the very ending but meh), one of the most poignant scenes in any film i've seen.

It would have been a lot sadder if it had been at the end of a movie that was actually good. As it was the movie was so poorly written, filled with characters behaving in utterly unbelievable ways, that the end was more of a relief for me than anything. Thank goodness that was over.
My eyes misted up a bit at the end of The Notebook.

Honestly, Bridge to Terabithia (I hope that's how it spelled).
