Last I heard it was November 1st, but I'm pretty sure that was just an estimate, I'm not sure if anything's official. That was a while ago though, dunno if any news has surfaced more recently on the release date.<br>

Holiday 2007 for release is the only official statement as of yet.
With Halo 3 now coming in September, GTA IV in October and the word "holiday" used, it seems reasonable to guesstimate a Nov 1 - Dec 4 release in time for Christmas. Word on the street is that GH3 will be "fall 2007." Hopefully the two games won't cause probems for each other.

After RO and Activision's treatment of the XBox 360 release, I sincerely hope that Rock Band does cause a problem for GH3 :)

Harmonix released the 360 version, besides the 360 version has been a massive success by most standards.

We didn't actually "release" it. That is the job of the publisher. We did develop it and deliver the final disc that went to the factory, as well as help with the patch to soften the hardware problem in the guitar controllers. We basically just handled the software side of things.

Well dang, yeah it seems the business side to anything can get confusing.
I am going to have to buy either a ps3 or xb360 before nov?! craaaaap.

I'd guess a Q4 2007 Release, Q1 2008 at latest.

Why do you mention that? Were you attempting to simply correct the difference between Publisher and Developer or are you trying to distance your company from the 360 version?

I guess he meant: "we can get the game ready TODAY and still get published 6 months from now cause it's not up to us." or something like that. He's trying to distance his company from business decisions such as: "not launching too near the Halo3 or GTA IV launches". Of course, imo. Did I get it right Sean ?

I'm just mentioning the difference between publisher and developer as it is an important one. We are proud of the Xbox 360 version of GHII - it looks awesome, it plays awesome, it's a fun game. We wouldn't distance ourselves from our product.
One thing that is really a goal of this site is to somewhat educate about the process that goes into making a game like this and what all the different parts are.

Then are the DLC for 360 GHII being done by Harmonix or Neversoft?
benjamin

Well if I am taking what HMXsean said correctly the distribution of the DLC is Either Red Octane or Activision.

I think I forgot what DLC means.

Either DownLoadable Content or DownLoad Content. It adds up to the same, and I don't really care to get my adjective correct.

one familiar game development term is "gone gold", which is to say that the game is "finished", coding, graphics, tutorials, everything is ready for production and distrubution. once a game has gone gold, the development team looses any control they had may have had on it.

Just because they are apart at this point it is quite different to actively distance oneself.

Though its the publishers job to actually release a game, if they've suggested a release date and the developer feels it doesn't work, don't think there won't be some discussion going on between the two. If the developer doesn't make business decisions like those, then they won't be in business long. Why would he want to distance HMX from a decision like that? There's no shame is strategic releasing. No director wants his movie to release within a week of a "LOTR". Business is business, HMX is a business, and they make strategic decisions on the regular.

I agree with you, but please don't take my point to an extreme. Obviously HMX is interested in protecting their business and the game they are making, but that doesn't mean they will spend some SERIOUS money on market research, as an example. Yeah, they can eventually step in and disagree with their publisher, but I don't think that commom, as the publisher is usually on top of it and has much more info to take that kind of decision, after all - that's THEIR job.
Anyway, what would be the artist without it's merchant ? =)

word. It definitely isn't common I would(n't?) think. Overall I was just lableing the "don't release it too close to the release of H3 & GTA4" business decision as a strategic decision and that they're just part of business. So that "type" of decision is one that HMX just can't avoid or distance themselves from, which is what I thought you were talking about when you said "He's trying to distance his company from business decisions such as...". If it isn't, thennnn ignore my entire post and nevermind, haha :p
