As suspected, BB and FS didn't honor their promised Dec 28 release date (not in Burlington at least) posted on their respective websites. Myself and another guy were first ones in the door (no lineups by the way) for the 9AM holiday opening @ BB on Brant steet. The floor manager said they received their SP bundles on the 24th and sold them all that evening. Likewise for Guelph Line FS (shipment arrived and sold out Dec 27).
I understand their policies forbid holding any items once the shipment arrives, but if thats the case, the Dec 28 release date should have been out-right removed from the websites. To advertise a dec 28 release date AND enforce a no-hold policy is completely contradictory. But I suppose that's too late now that it's "technically" released. A "we don't know" would be a more responsible and courteous message to put up on the websites than an unrealistic date. I can afford to wait. I feel bad for all the parents who waited in good faith until after the holidays for the Dec 28th date, only to have their hopes snuffed.
We were told that random shipments are drop-shipped directly to BB and FS and once they arrive, they're rolled out onto the floor. That said, to those who snagged a bundle, consider yourselves very lucky. I for one will wait for my EB pre-order to rescue me (in the middle the the queue, so I'm hoping to get mine within the next month). I see no point in morning BB/FS campouts anymore :)
